For its inaugural opening, Ad Hoc Productions presents Making an Impression, a selection of three short pieces.

The two comedies, Fourteen and Appearances, and a world premiere monologue, Disappearing Act, illuminate the significance of appearance in a woman's life.

Open to the public with free admission, the production will be staged at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 27, and Sunday, August 28, at the Friends Theater, Upper Arlington Public Library, 2800 Tremont Road, Upper Arlington, Ohio 43221.

In Fourteen by Alice Gerstenberg, dinner party plans go awry before the guests arrive; in Appearances by Tina Howe, a tug-of-personalities ensues between a saleswoman and a customer in a dress department; and in Disappearing Act by Leslie Robinson, a woman of a certain age comes to terms with her reflection in the mirror.

Ad Hoc Production founders Leslie Robinson, Aynn Titchenal, Mony Carpenter, Kathy Hyland, and Angela Palazzolo, veterans of central Ohio's theatre community, will be involved in various aspects of the productions.

Titchenal directs Appearances and plays the role of Mrs. Horace Pringle in Fourteen, Hyland directs Disappearing Act and plays the role of Elaine in Fourteen, Palazzolo directs Fourteen and plays the role of Grace in Appearances, Robinson, who wrote Disappearing Act, plays the role of Ivy in Appearances, and Carpenter plays the role of Val in Disappearing Act. Miles E. Drake, another veteran of central Ohio's theatre community, joins Ad Hoc to play the role of Dunham in Fourteen.

An audience talkback will follow the conclusion of each performance of Making an Impression. For more information, email adhoc1productions@yahoo.com.

The mission of Ad Hoc Productions is to discover, uncover, and provide quality live theatre entertainment featuring significant, meaningful roles for women.

Appearances is from Shrinking Violets & Towering Tiger Lilies: A Bouquet of Female Delights by Tina Howe produced by special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc.
