Fast-forward just a couple of weeks and already she has received support from the likes of UK's BBC Radio 1, Australia's Triple J and is currently featured in the current issue of NME in the Radar section. Fast becoming a blog favorite with her dreamy indie-pop sound, Kita has also garnered an impressive 65k plays across Spotify, Soundcloud and YouTube in just a matter of weeks and shows no signs of slowing down.

This week, she premiered a brand new live video of "My Own Way" recorded for Noisey.com in Los Angeles. Watch the video here. "My Own Way" is also available now on iTunes and Spotify.

Born 1996 in Brisbane and raised in Port Macquarie, Kita developed an early love for music and started singing and playing the guitar when she was just 8 years old. Inspired by the rockers of the 80's, Kita cites Fleetwood Mac, Tom Petty, Rodriguez, Patti Smith, Lou Reed and Joe Cocker as some of her early influences.

Having grown up on Australia's east coast it is of no surprise that Kita is an avid surfer. On her 18th birthday she moved to the famous surf town of Byron Bay. It was Commuting between Byron and Sydney she wrote "My Own Way" with Nicky Night Time (formerly of Van She). Then, using her savings from over the years, Kita packed up and traveled to London and Los Angeles to continue collaborating with fellow songwriters and artists.

It was during this period of wanderlust and homesickness Kita made a video for the song using old home movies and clips she and her friends filmed over the years.

"Whenever I was traveling and thought about home I used to look through the footage me and my friends took and it made me feel closer to them." Kita continues "the video is full of memories: my sister in the creek at our parent's farm, this random guitarist busking on the street in Byron, my friend's lawn skating competition during our Christmas party in Foster, my mom filming fish at the Great Barrier Reef or us surfing... I can now take these moments wherever I go."

Kita Alexander is currently in the studio writing more music, and plans to reveal more very soon.
