Chesapeake Shakespeare to Present THE TEMPEST This Summer
Chesapeake Shakespeare will present THE TEMPEST by William Shakespeare, directed by Lizzi Albert, running June 16 - July 23, 2017.
Bring a picnic and join us this summer for Shakespeare's romantic tale of shipwreck, castaways, magic and redemption: The Tempest, performed outdoors in the lovely PFI Historic Park. We're celebrating our 15th Anniversary season of performing IN-THE-RUINS.
The Tempest is a perfect enchantment for a summer evening -- as a date night or as a family outing. While marooned on an island, Prospero studies wizardry. He is the rightful Duke of Milan, but he has been overthrown, and he lives in exile with his young daughter. He wants a better life for her. So he uses his powers to control the island fairies, and to conjure a shipwreck to bring his enemies to his island so he can confront them.
Performances run June 16 - July 23, 2017, playing Thurs-Fri and Sat at 8pm, with gates opening at 6:30pm -- for picnics; Sundays at 6pm, with gates opening at 4:30pm -- for picnics and Family Fun Day activities, games and storytelling in the park (Sunday/Family Fun Days: the dates are June 25 and July 2, 9, 16, and 23).
