Good morning, BroadwayWorld! Because we know all our readers eat, sleep and breathe Broadway, what could be better than waking up to it? Today's big news: PHOENIX, starring Julia Stiles and James Wirt, begins tonight at Cherry Lane, John Leguizamo's GHETTO KLOWN comes to Central Park, and three concerts highlight Broadway talent this evening at 42West, Joe's Pub and 54 Below!

Next up in our series of Broadway stars introducing BWW's morning feature is composer and lyricist Benj Pasek (portrait by Walter McBride), who was nominated for a Tony Award for his work on A CHRISTMAS STORY THE MUSICAL last year and also wrote DOGFIGHT, which ran at Second Stage in 2012. Take note of Pasek's positive attitude and chase away those Monday mopes with the news!

NEWS YOU MISSED THIS WEEKEND:

Broadway Weather Forecast: Morning thunderstorms with a high of 83, then cloudy the rest of the day. Sounds like a Monday, but just remember... the sun will come out--sorry, sorry. I won't go there.

Quote of the Day: Leguizamo on his obvious high school "profession"...

The thing I gravitated to was being the class clown. It was very competitive.
-- John Leguizamo (via BrainyQuote)

What we're looking forward to: THIS IS OUR YOUTH, which closed in Chicago over the weekend but will soon reappear on Broadway!
