Uzo Aduba, Eddie Redmayne & More Theater Stars Receive GOLDEN GLOBE AWARD Nods

Angela Bassett, America Ferrera, Chloë Grace Moretz and Dennis Quaid announced the nominees for the 73rd Annual Golden Globe® Awards today from the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, CA. They were joined by previously announced Miss Golden Globe, Corinne Foxx, Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) President, Lorenzo Soria, and Executive VP of Television at dick clark productions, Barry Adelman.

Nominations were announced in 25 categories - 14 in film and 11 in television and were voted on by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. Click here for full list!

A plethora of Broadway and theater stars received nods for their performances on film and television. In the category of Best TV Series Comedy or Musical, MOZART IN THE JUNGLE, starring Bernadette Peters and Nick Jonas, will compete against ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK, which features Uzo Aduba (THE WIZ LIVE!, GODSPELL) and THE COLOR PURPLE's Danielle Brooks and TRANSPARENT, starring Judith Light.

Lily Tomlin (The Search for Signs of Intelligent Life in the Universe) received a nod as Best Actress in a TV Comedy for GRACE AND FRANKIE. Nominees in the category of TV Limited Series included AMERICAN HORROR STORY: HOTEL, starring Lady Gaga, Cheyenne Jackson, Matt Bomer and Angela Bassett among others, as well as PBS's WOLF HALL.

Best Actress in a Limited Series nominees include Lady Gaga as The Countess in AHS: HOTEL, Felicity Huffman for AMERICAN CRIME and Queen Latifah for HBO's BESSIE. Viola Davis (FENCES) was nominated for Best Actress in a Drama Series for HOW TO GET AWAY WITH MURDER.

Best Actor in a Limited Series includes nominees Mark Rylance (TWELFTH NIGHT) for WOLF HALL and Patrick Wilson (ALL MY SONS) for his performance in FX's FARGO.

Liev Schreiber received his third consecutive series nomination for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series, Drama for his work on RAY DONOVAN.

Supporting Actor in a drama series category includes THE GOOD WIFE's Alan Cumming (CABARET) while ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK's Uzo Aduba and TRANSPARENT's Judith Light (Thérèse Raquin) and THE AFFAIR's Maura Tierney (LUCKY GUY ) received noms for Supporting Actress.

Sir Patrick Stewart received a nomination for Best Actor in a Comedy for BLUNT TALK.

In film, Cate Blanchett (THE MAIDS) received a nomination for Best Actress in a Drama for CAROL along with BROOKLYN's Saoirse Ronan, who will soon make her Broadway debut in Arthur Miller's THE CRUCIBLE. Best Actor in a Motion Picture Drama includes Tony Award winner Bryan Cranston (ALL THE WAY) for TRUMBO, Michael Fassbender for STEVE JOBS and Tony and Oscar winner Eddie Redmayne (RED, LES MISERABLES) for THE DANISH GIRL.

THE AUDIENCE's Helen Mirren received a nomination for Best Supporting Actress for a Motion Picture Drama for TRUMBO. Best Supporting Actor in a Musical or Comedy include Al Pacino (CHINA DOLL) for DANNY COLLINS and Mark Ruffalo (THE NORMAL HEART,AWAKE AND SING!) for INFINITELY POLAR BEAR.

Best Actress in a Motion Picture,Musical or Comedy nominees included Maggie Smith for THE LADY IN THE VAN and Lily Tomlin for GRANDMA.

SPOTLIGHT, featuring SOMETHING ROTTEN!'S Brian d'Arcy James, received a nod for Best Motion Picture Drama.

The 73rd Annual Golden Globe Awards, hosted by Ricky Gervais, will air on Sunday, January 10, 2016, LIVE coast-to-coast on NBC from 8:00-11:00 p.m. (EST)/5:00-8:00 p.m. (PST) from the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, CA. Produced by dick clark productions in association with the HFPA, the Golden Globe Awards are viewed in more than 210 countries worldwide and are one of the few awards ceremonies to include both motion picture and television achievements. As previously announced, actor Denzel Washington will be the recipient of this year's Cecil B. DeMille Award.
