STAGE TUBE: Watch Lin-Manuel Miranda, Lindsay Mendez and Anthony Ramos in 'What the Heck I Gotta Do' from 21 CHUMP STREET
On June 7, Lin-Manuel Miranda's new mini-musical, 21 Chump Street, was featured at the Brooklyn Academy of Music's THIS AMERICAN LIFE as part of the 2014 "RadioLoveFest". As a part of the event, nearly 50 actors, singers, dancers, musicians and comedians joined Ira Glass onstage at the Brooklyn Academy of Music's Opera House...to try some things they'd never tried before. The result? Journalism turned into opera, into plays, into a Broadway musical.
Lin-Manuel Miranda is the Tony-winning composer-lyricist of Broadway's In the Heights. In the Heights received four 2008 Tony Awards (including Best Orchestrations, Best Choreography and Best Musical), with Lin-Manuel receiving a Tony Award for Best Score, as well as a nomination for Best Leading Actor in a Musical. Off-Broadway, In the Heights received 9 Drama Desk Nominations (including Best Music, Best Lyrics) and an award for Outstanding Ensemble Performance.
