SPOTLIGHT has won the 2016 Academy Award for Best Picture. Michael Sugar, Steve Golin, Nicole Rocklin and Blye Pagon Faust are the producers. These are the first Academy Award nominations for Michael Sugar, Nicole Rocklin and Blye Pagon Faust.

Including his nomination this year for Best Picture for THE REVENANT, this is the third Academy Award nomination for Steve Golin. He was previously nominated for: BABEL (2006) Nominee, Best Picture

The cast of Spotlight includes Bryan D'Arcy James (SOMETHING ROTTEN) and Mark Ruffalo (HBO's THE NORMAL HEART, AWAKE AND SING!). Ruffalo also received a nomination for Best Actor in a Supporting Role.

About the film: In 2001, the journalists of The Boston Globe's Spotlight team begin investigating Father John Geoghan, who is accused of molesting more than 80 boys. As they dig deeper and acknowledge their paper's own failings, the team uncovers a conspiracy of lawyers and government officials who helped the Boston Archdiocese hide the pedophilia of many priests and deny justice to the victims.

Other nominees for Best Picture were The Big Short, Bridge Of Spies, Brooklyn, Mad Max: Fury Road, The Martian, The Revenant and Room.

The 88th ACADEMY AWARDS are taking place tonight, Sunday, February 28, 2016, at the Dolby Theatre® at Hollywood & Highland Center® in Hollywood, and are being televised live by the ABCTelevision Network. The Oscar presentation is also being televised live in more than 225 countries and territories worldwide. Comedian, actor and filmmaker Chris Rock returns as host of the event for a second time.
