Phoenix Theatre of Indianapolis announces Buyer and Cellar opening March 5 on the Frank and Katrina Basile Stage. This production runs through April 5, 2015, with Chuck Goad serving as director. The production will be an Indiana premiere.

Alex More has a story to tell. A struggling actor in L.A., Alex takes a job working in the Malibu basement of the beloved megastar, Barbra Streisand. One day, the Lady Herself comes downstairs to play. It feels like real bonding in the basement, but will their relationship ever make it upstairs? This hugely successful Off-Broadway hit is an outrageous one-man comedy about celebrity, the oddest of odd jobs and the pursuit of utopia.

Chuck Goad is a founding member of the Phoenix Theatre. He was last seen in the season opener Clark Gable Slept Here. Chuck has performed in over 40 plays at the Phoenix and is a regular on many local stages including the Indiana Repertory Theatre.

"I fell in love with Buyer and Cellar when I saw it last year in NY and immediately thought of how perfect it would be for the Phoenix! And then when I saw Scot "pitch" the show I knew that he would be perfect for it! So, of course, I leapt at the chance when Bryan offered it to me to direct. I think the first thing you notice in the script is how beautifully the idea translates and how the joke evolves and becomes incredibly human. It has that fast-paced "let me tell you this story in one breath" intensity which keeps you on the edge of your seat. The comedy is so funny but the insights into the isolation of fame and awkward balance of confidante, servant and compatriot keep it grounded. You don't have to be a die-hard Streisand fan to fully appreciate Buyer and Cellar. But such knowledge will certainly give you a leg up on all of Tolins' commentary on the strange truth and fabulous fiction." -Chuck Goad, Director

Scot Greenwell has appeared in more than 20 productions at the Phoenix over the last nine years, including Freud's Last Session, Norway, Next Fall, and Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson. Other credits include A Midsummer Night's Dream (Indiana Repertory Theatre); The Santaland Diaries, The Grapes of Wrath, and Little Shop of Horrors (Cardinal Stage Company). He is a member of Heartland Actors' Repertory Theatre and appeared in their summer production of The Tempest.
