MURDER FOR TWO to Transfer to New World Stages for Limited Engagement; Performances Begin 10/23
The producers and Second Stage Theatre have announced that the hit musical comedy Murder For Two will transfer to New World Stages in a limited engagement following rave reviews and a twice-extended, sold-out run at Second Stage Theatre Uptown.
Murder For Two features book and music by Joe Kinosian, book and lyrics by Kellen Blair and direction by Scott Schwartz and stars Jeff Blumenkrantz and Brett Ryback. Previews will begin Wednesday, October 23rd at New World Stages - Stage 5 (340 West 50th Street) with opening night set for Wednesday, November 6th, and a final performance set for Sunday, January 5th.
"We're proud to give this amazing gem of a musical, and its knockout performers, a new run at New World Stages," said Jayson Raitt. According to Barbara Whitman, "the fantastically funny and highly theatrical production of Murder For Two has delighted New York theatergoers all summer at Second Stage Uptown and we're thrilled to be able to spread the laughter through the end of the year."
Murder For Two began previews at Second Stage Theatre's uptown home, the McGinn/Cazale Theatre on Wednesday, July 10th and officially opened Thursday, July 25th. It was extended twice, due to popular demand, and ultimately played there through Sunday, August 25th.
Everyone is a suspect in Murder For Two, a hilarious musical murder mystery with a twist: one actor (Brett Ryback) investigates the crime, the other plays all of the suspects (Jeff Blumenkrantz) and they both play the piano! A zany blend of classic musical comedy and madcap mystery, this 90-minute whodunit is a highly theatrical duet loaded with killer laughs.
