Theatrical licensor Music Theatre International (MTI) has secured licensing rights to the musical THE THEORY OF RELATIVITY.

THE THEORY OF RELATIVITY is a musical by the Drama Desk Award-nominated creators of Broadway's THE STORY OF MY LIFE, Neil Bartram and Brian Hill. Originally commissioned by the Canadian Music Theatre Project at Sheridan College in Ontario, Canada, and most recently produced by Goodspeed Musicals (pictured) in East Haddam, Conn., THE THEORY OF RELATIVITY has been developed at American universities such as Penn State, Oklahoma, Michigan and Boston Conservatory, and has enjoyed numerous productions including international presentations in London and Toronto, and cabaret performances at 54 Below, Birdland and elsewhere.

THE THEORY OF RELATIVITY grew out of stories told to the authors by a group of young actors. Much in the style of A CHORUS LINE, composer/lyricist Bartram and book writer Hill adapted these true stories - about home, childhood, family, love and loss - into an emotional and accessible show that explores how young people create communities out of their shared experiences. The musical introduces a compelling array of characters experiencing the joys and heartbreaks, the liaisons and losses, the inevitability and the wonder of human connection.

"Our work with college theatre students inspired Brian and me to create THE THEORY OF RELATIVITY based on their unique stories and experiences," stated Neil Bartram. "Yet we've learned through the process that audiences of all ages respond to the universality of the quest for human connection. We're thrilled that now the wonderful team at MTI (who have given such a successful afterlife to our show THE STORY OF MY LIFE) will now be introducing THE THEORY OF RELATIVITY to a much wider audience."

"We feel so close to this show and the many incredible young people whose stories inspired it," said Brian Hill. "We're thrilled that MTI joins us in our excitement to share these stories."

"When I saw the Goodspeed production of THEORY, I found it incredibly moving and filled with humor that everyone in the audience felt was written directly for them, about their own relationships. This infectious song cycle reminded me of the power of SONGS FOR A NEW WORLD and EDGES. THEORY is another show that performers and theatres of all sizes will want to share with their audiences." stated Drew Cohen, President of MTI Worldwide.

The cast recording is available on disc by PS Classics and is available at Amazon and PSClassics.com. The show is currently available for licensing.
