All the highlights of last night's INTO THE WOODS reunion!

Last night marked the eagerly awaited INTO THE WOODS original cast reunion event which was held at the Segerstrom Center For The Arts in California and the official Twitter account of the venue provided live tweeting on the event, with attendees and participants utilizing social media to offer a look at the highlights, too.

Performance highlights of the night included performances of several songs from the hallowed, Tony Award-winning score by Stephen Sondheim, including "Children Will Listen", "Last Midnight", "No One Is Alone", "Stay With Me", "It Takes Two", "Hello, Little Girl", "On The Steps Of The Palace", "No More", "Giants In The Sky", "Your Fault" and "Witch's Rap".

Additionally, Sondheim and collaborator James Lapine joined the actors in sharing several insights into the creation and final finished product that became INTO THE WOODS, such as:

Sondheim relayed that his favorite line in the show is the Baker's Wife deadpan retort, "We. Are. Moving."

Chip Zien characterized the relationship of the Baker and his Wife as "feisty," while Joanna Gleason offered of their cumbustible pairing, "Chip bears the distinction of being the only actor I've ever worked with who I've hit."

Lapine said of the source material, "Steve's idea of fairy tales are the Disney cartoons..." with Sondheim agreeing: "I don't read."

Sondheim shared of the "bean theme" so prominent in the score, "It was a matter of finding the vamp and finding the bean theme, and then everything just flowered from there."

"This is ridiculous / What am I doing here?/ I'm in the wrong story," was suggested by Gleason herself, with Sondheim stating it was the only time he has lifted a lyrical line from an actor.

Original Wolf and Cinderella's Prince Robert Westenberg shared that his "profoundly endowed" Wolf eventually became less so and the "appendage" was reduced following its upstaging of the actor wearing it.

Real-life wife of Westenberg, original Cinderella, Kim Crosby, humourously added of the costume, "We have one at home."

Lapine revealed he wrote Litte Red Riding Hood explicitly for Danielle Ferland, who previously appeared in the Sondheim/Lapine musical SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE.

Sondheim asserted that "I Guess This Is Goodbye" is the only song he has written without a rhyme.

Bernadette Peters summed up her character of The Witch in a classic line from the show: "When you're dead, you're dead."

Famed interpreter Peters also stated of Sondheim, "If he didn't write, I'd have nothing to sing about."

Sondheim and Lapine characteristically summed up their experiences reliving INTO THE WOODS as such: Sondheim said of the songs after hearing them performed again by the original actors, "Very upsetting. I want to hear them forever," whereas Lapine hilariously asserted, "It's like an acid flashback."
