Hartt Students Present MUSIC A LA CARTE at Pond House Cafe, 3/28

By: Mar. 10, 2010

Students of The Hartt School present Music a la Carte at the Pond House Café (Elizabeth Park), 1555 Asylum Avenue, West Hartford, on Sunday, March 28, at 5:00 PM. Tickets are $30, $25 for students, and must be purchased by March 23. Visit www.hartford.edu/hartt or call the University Box Office at 860.768.4228 to purchase tickets.

Patrons will enjoy a delicious meal accompanied by performances composed and performed by Hartt students. Musical selections played during the dining experience have been selected to reflect and enhance the four courses - New England clam chowder, Southwestern sushi with a chipotle aioli sauce, chicken and shrimp gumbo, and hot buttered rum cake with hot chocolate pudding.

This unique way to present new music was the brain child of Hartt student Kendra Emery, who came up with the idea while sharing a meal with a friend and discussing new ways to present concerts and expose new audiences to music usually presented in a formal concert setting. Emery began recruiting Hartt student composers for the project last September. The students have designed a program that provides the perfect environment in which to enjoy a special meal at this popular dining venue.

The Hartt School is the comprehensive performing arts conservatory of the University of Hartford that offers innovative degree programs in music, dance, and theatre. With more than 400 concerts, recitals, plays, master classes, dance performances, and musical theatre productions a year, performance is central to Hartt's curriculum.
