The Wiz 2024

Broadway says goodbye to The Wiz, which takes its final bow at the Marquis Theatre Theatre following 18 previews and 142 regular performances. The venue will soon be home to Stranger Things: The First Shadow, which begins performances on March 28, 2025.

BroadwayWorld has confirmed that yesterday evening's performance of The Wiz was canceled early in Act 1 due to 'a technical issue early in the performance.' A show spokesperson confirmed that performances will resume tonight, August 1.

The Broadway revival of The Wiz took part in a Tiny Desk concert, featuring the cast from the current production. Vocalists included Nichelle Lewis, Melody A. Betts, Alan Mingo, Jr., Kyle Ramar Freeman, Phillip Johnson Richardson, and Avery Wilson. Watch it now!

Performers included: Christina A Jones ('Day Dreaming'), Keenan D Washington ('It's Hard to Speak My Heart'), Jay Copeland ('Heal'), Matthew Sims Jr. ('Independently Owned'), Polanco Jones Jr. (original song), Anthony Murphy ('Fifty Percent'), and Amber Jackson (original song), with young singers Devin DeAngelis ('Purpose'), Spencer Orton ('Do You Remember?') and Anya Fox ('Kiny of Anything').
