Bluebeard's Castle and Erwartung returns as a captivating double bill at the Canadian Opera Company, directed by Robert Lepage. The production presents Béla Bartók's Bluebeard’s Castle, where a new wife, played by Karen Cargill, uncovers her husband Bluebeard's secrets, portrayed by Christian Van Horn. Following this is Arnold Schoenberg's Erwartung, featuring Anna Gabler in her COC debut as a woman spiraling into madness in search of her lover. The haunting performances and innovative staging promise an intense exploration of desire and dread.
