The performance was held on Sunday, February 10 at 8PM at the Young Centre for the Performing Arts, Historic Distillery District in Toronto and raised over 30k! (11/29/2012) - This past Monday, stars of Toronto's theatre scene joined together for a fundraiser in support of Acting Up Stage, a 'modern musical theatre' company in Toronto. Artistic Director Mitchell Marcus once again teamed with Musical Director Reza Jacobs to create an evening filled with unique songs by popular composers. Tapestries featured the music of Carole King and James Taylor and included stars such as Cynthia Dale, Jake Epstein, Josh Young and more. (11/23/2012) - On Saturday November 17th Torontonians came out to support Gilda's Club of Greater Toronto at the eleventh annual It's Always Something variety show and fundraiser. The event was once again hosted by Russell Peters and featured performances by Eric McCormack, Nelly Furtado, Glass Tiger, Louise Pitre and more. All proceeds went to support Gilda's Club, which provides an invaluable support system and resource for people's who's lives have been touched by cancer. (11/12/2012) - The 2nd Annual Hope Rising Benefit took plays this week at Roy Thomson Hall to benefit the Stephen Lewis AIDS Foundation, an organization that helps women and children with HIV/AIDS in Africa. Annie Lennox returned to Toronto for one night only to lend her gorgeous vocals to the cause, along with Canadian sensation Sarah McLachlan and African singer Angelique Kidjo. Hosted by Jian Ghomeshi, the very special evening was both heartbreaking and inspiring. BWW was on hand to capture photos from the event.

(11/06/2012) - Canada has spoken, and Danielle Wade has been given the coveted red ruby slippers and the role of Dorothy in Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber's production of The Wizard of Oz. Wade, 20, won the eight week long reality competition 'Over the Rainbow' Monday night after a nation-wide vote eliminated runners-up AJ Bridel and Stephanie LaRochelle. Danielle will headline the Mirvish presentation of The Wizard of Oz, opening this Christmas at the Ed Mirvish Theatre.

Produced by Michael Rubinoff, the event celebrated the 15th Anniversary of the Canadian production of the Tony Award Winning musical, and was a fantastic evening filled with songs and lots of love. (09/12/2012) - West of Memphis is a 2012 documentary film produced by Peter Jackson and Damien Echols, and directed by Amy J. Berg. Following from the original Paradise Lost film and its two sequels, West of Memphis follows the events of the West Memphis Three, a case in which three teenagers-Damien Echols, Jason Baldwin, and Jessie Misskelley-were arrested for the murders of three 8-year old children; Christopher Byers, Steven Branch, and Michael Moore. The West Memphis Three were subsequently convicted of murder and remained in prison for more than 18 years, being released just prior to the third Paradise Lost film. (09/11/2012) - On the Road is a film adaptation of the Jack Kerouac cult classic novel of the same name, directed by Walter Salles and starring Sam Riley as Sal Paradise and Garrett Hedlund as Dean Moriarty. The story is based on the years Kerouac spent travelling the United States in the 1940s with his friend Neal Cassady and several other figures who would go on to fame in their own right, including William S. Sam Mendes' film about a family man's resplendent mid-life crisis premiered in Toronto in 1999 and went on to win five Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Screenplay. The one-night-only performance included Bryan Cranston, Christina Hendricks, Woody Harrelson, Adam Driver, Sarah Gadon, Nick Kroll, Mae Whitman and George Stroumboulopoulos. The atmosphere was electric, with all guests being treated to cocktails, popcorn and ice cream under the big top. With many VIPs in attendance, Cirque debuted their newest production (directed by Diane Paulus) to Toronto.
