The Underpants is an adaptation of the 1910 German farce Die Hose by playwright Carl Sternheim. In this farcical send-up of bourgeois snobbery and conformity, a housewife becomes an instant celebrity after she accidentally loses her underpants in public. Aladdin will launch at Toronto's Ed Mirvish Theatre (formerly the Canon) November 1, 2013 to January 5, 2014. Opening night there is November 21, 2013. Ramin Karimloo, in Toronto to tackle the lead role in the upcoming Mirvish presentation of Les Miserables, sang O Canada in a 'Valjean' Blue Jays jersey and gave the crowd a preview of what's to come when he takes the stage at The Princess of Wales. Ramin has previously performed the role in the West End, and returns to his hometown to make his Toronto stage debut this September. BWW is thrilled to bring readers photos from the event.

(08/17/2013) - On Tuesday night, the red carpet was rolled out at Toronto's Royal Alexandra Theatre as Mirvish Productions presented the opening of The Rascals: Once Upon a Dream. The show is produced and directed by Steven Van Zandt and features all four original band members. The show sold out on Broadway, and is being dubbed as a mix between a dance party and a jukebox musical in the style of 'Jersey Boys'. Steven Van Zandt and his wife Maureen were on hand for the Toronto opening, as were many other stars from Toronto's theatre and music scenes. (07/26/2013) - Ross Petty, one of Canada's leading musical theatre actors and producers, just happened to have starred as the principal male lead in a touring production of Anything Goes early in his career. It was 1980 and Petty played Billy Crocker opposite Ginger Rogers as Reno Sweeney. The cast also included another legendary performer: Sid Caesar, who played Moonface Martin (aka Public Enemy Number 13). Remembering the year Petty played in ANYTHING GOES, he attended the July 24th evening performance at the Princess of Wales Theatre with his wife Karen Kain, the Artistic Director of the National Ballet of Canada.
