Review: LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS at the Masque Theatre Is a Deliciously Dark Triumph
by Jaime Uranovsky - Aug 28, 2025
LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS at the Masque Theatre soars over every one of those potential hurdles and knocks it out of the park, delivering a deliciously dark, triumph of a production. From the performers to the set to the props to the effects to the message, this is up there with some of the best-ever productions staged at the Masque Theatre.
Review: HAMLET at the Masque Theatre Is Innovative, Relevant and Compelling
by Jaime Uranovsky - May 13, 2025
I am continuously mesmerised by theatre-makers’ abilities to deliver fresh and novel adaptations of Shakespeare plays. This feminist, gender-swapping retelling of HAMLET is such an adaptation. It is sublime – one of the best shows I have ever seen at the Masque Theatre.

Review: RED RIDING HOOD at the Masque Theatre Is Fabulous, Fun and Feisty
by Jaime Uranovsky - Dec 19, 2024
Pantomimes aren’t easy – at once they must captivate children for upwards of two hours while also catering to the sensibilities of the adults in the audience. RED RIDING HOOD manages to ace both of these components. In fact, this might be my favourite of the annual pantos at the Masque Theatre – the show is fun, slick, and just all round excellent.
Review: WRONG FACES and TOMMY AND DOMINICK at the Masque Theatre's One-Act Play Festival Showcase Local Playwrights
by Jaime Uranovsky - Mar 24, 2024
During my adolescence, the annual one-act play festival held at my high school was the highlight of my academic year. So, whenever I hear that a one-play festival is being staged, I am filled with excitement and nostalgia. For the first time, the Masque Theatre has introduced what will become its annual one-act play festival, providing local playwrights with an opportunity to stage their original works.
