Powerstories Theatre is proud to present the Voices of Women Theatre Festival, a showcase of original works by 11 brilliant women playwrights from March 21-30 at the USF Theatre. The festival is a tribute to Women's History Month and a response to the glaring underrepresentation of women in playwriting. The festival aims to highlight the diverse and powerful voices of women from different backgrounds and genres.
The Voices of Women Theatre Festival is an annual event that features live and online performances of plays written by women. The festival started during the pandemic's peak to connect isolated patrons and the theatre when the stage was closed. Now in its fourth year, the festival has seen its debuting playwrights go on to achieve national recognition.
With a tagline of EmpowerHER. InspirHER. AmplifiHER., the festival provides women a safe and inclusive space to tell their stories and inspire audiences worldwide. This year, the festival will feature live-in-theatre 10-minute self-produced productions, three live-in-theatre 60-minute performances selected and produced by Powerstories, and 60-minute digital submissions.

Started during the pandemic, The Voices of Women Theatre Festival has become a cornerstone of Powerstories Theatre's mission to amplify the stories of women playwrights. The first event without their physical theatre space due to developers replacing it with high-rise apartments, Powerstories Theatre has proven that the show will go on.
