10th STL Teen Talent Competition Chooses 16 HS Acts For Final Event

On Sunday, March 8th, 46 metro area high school acts competed in the Semi-final round of the 10th Annual St. Louis Teen Talent Competition. St. Louis performing arts professionals judged the performances and narrowed the field to 16 acts (25 students) who will move on to the finals on Saturday, April 4th at 8pm at The Fabulous Fox Theatre .

Soorya Performing Arts, a not for profit organization, is bringing their three-day annual American Natya Festival to the Wydown Auditorium (6500 Wydown, Clayton, MO 63105) on April 24th, 25th and 26th, to showcase India's grand dance forms. This festival presents professional performing artists from across the United States as well as India. This event is curated by Guru Prasanna Kasthuri, Artistic Director of St. Louis' Soorya Performing Arts and a renowned dancer among Indian and American Indian classical dance elites. It is the first and only Indian Classical Dance Drama Festival in the country.

Bayer Fund Awards Arts And Education Council $25,000

The Arts and Education Council announced today that the Bayer Fund has continued its support for the Bayer Fund Rural Community Arts Program with a $25,000 grant. Since establishing the partnership in 2007, the Arts and Education Council and Bayer Fund have provided more than $225,000 in grants to organizations in rural communities surrounding the St. Louis metropolitan area for arts and arts education programming.

David Clewell, Missouri's poet laureate from 2010-2012, author of 10 collections of poetry and more than 50 other works that appeared in various publications, and a long-time professor of literature at Webster University, passed away early Saturday, Feb. 15, 2020, his relatives confirmed. He was 65.
