Hell in a Handbag Productions is concluding its 21st season with the world premiere musical parody Murder, ReWrote, playing August 10 – September 16, 2023 at The Den Theatre (Upstairs Mainstage) in Chicago’s Wicker Park neighborhood. The press opening is Sunday, August 13 at 7 pm. The ninth annual edition of Broadway Backwards, a one-night-only performance produced by Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and benefiting BC/EFA and the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center of New York, took place last night. This year's special event featured the talents of Michael Berresse (Kiss Me, Kate; A Chorus Line), Tony winner Beth Leavel (Elf, The Drowsy Chaperone), Tony winner Debra Monk (Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, TV's 'Girls'), Ken Page (Ain't Misbehavin', Cats), Tony winner Billy Porter (Kinky Boots), Tony nominee Andrew Rannells(The Book of Mormon, TV's 'Girls'), Tony nominee John Tartaglia (Avenue Q, TV's 'Johnny and the Sprites.'), and more This year's edition of Broadway Backwards (#bwaybackwards) was held at Broadway's Al Hirschfeld Theatre (302 W 45th Street, NYC), current home to the Tony Award-winning Best Musical Kinky Boots. The award-winning York Theatre Company (James Morgan, Producing Artistic Director) begins performances for the return of its hilarious and heartwarming holiday hit 2006 revue, That Time of the Year. This extremely limited engagement will be presented in a style similar to the York's Musicals in Mufti Series (Staged concerts of musical theatre gems performed 'book-in-hand' with minimal props and costumes) this weekend only from December 18th through December 20th, 2009.

Following three sell-out shows on Shaftesbury Avenue, Christmas in New York is released on CD ahead of the fourth annual instalment of the show at the Prince of Wales Theatre in December.

As previously announced, beginning on Monday, July 6th AVENUE Q will welcome back original cast member Ann Harada in the role of 'Christmas Eve.' Also joining the Broadway cast on July 6th, direct from the AVENUE Q U.S. national tour are Robert McClure in the roles of 'Princeton/Rod,' Anika Larsen in the roles of 'Kate Monster/Lucy the Slut,' and Danielle K. Thomas in the role of 'Gary Coleman.' Harada, McClure, Larsen and Thomas will join Christian Anderson, Nicholas Kohn and Jennifer Barnhart to comprise the final Broadway cast of AVENUE Q.

'The Leading Men IV,' a benefit concert for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, was held Monday, May 11, at 7pm at Birdland, 315 W. 44th St. As part of the long-running Broadway at Birdland series, it featured top singers from Broadway and cabaret. John Tartaglia (Avenue Q, Shrek The Musical) once again hosted, and Emmy-nominated writer, host and comic Seth Rudetsky returned as musical director, along with director Alan Muraoka (NAATCO's Falsettoland).

The Richmond/Ermet AIDS Foundation proudly presented a 'One-Night-Only Cabaret' featuring company members from the national tour casts of Avenue Q and Jersey Boys

A press rehearsal was recently held for the first national tour of Avenue Q, which features a cast of thirteen veteran performers - many from the Las Vegas and Broadway productions of the show!

Broadway lovers and teddy bear collectors came together on Sunday, February 11, at the 'Broadway Bears X' auction, which raised a grand total of $130,000 for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.
