Much of the conversation around the incoming of the revamped Les Misérables production to the West End has revolved around the revolve a?' or lack thereof. But this slicker touring version (first seen in 2009, for the 25th anniversary) is a beautiful fit for Cameron Mackintosh's marvellously refurbished Sondheim Theatre, and the show's indelible score and stirring human drama are, if anything, showcased more strongly than ever.

Matt Lucas stepped in to play the role of Thénardier for a few weeks when Gerard Carey was unable to perform before the first preview of the new production of Les Misérables at the Sondheim Theatre last month due to vocal injury caused by contracting pneumonia. Last week Lucas regrettably sustained a back injury which has meant he is unable to continue in the role.

Les Misérables: Symphonic Highlights features The City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra and Brian Eads, current Musical Director and Conductor of the Les Misérables U.S. national tour, at the piano. Eads partnered with the incomparable David T. Clydesdale, Grammy and Dove Award winning arranger and orchestrator, for this endeavor. As co-arrangers, orchestrators and producers, the two beautifully captured the heart and magic of Les Misérables in a symphonic masterpiece set to release on February 28.
