Uptown Players, a professional theater group located in the Uptown area of Dallas, has announced its programming for its upcoming Gay History Play Festival. From September 28 through October 19, 2018, Uptown Players will present three plays with themes that focus on Gay History.

In their shadow play WHALES, inspired by punk rock, interactive game shows, documentaries, and Herman Melville's seminal masterpiece Moby-Dick, HTL! invites you to catch a glimpse of the world that brought us a certain legendary white whale and the men that hunt him. In HORSETALE, part of Family Fringe, a Horse and his Tail become separated and in their search for each other, find themselves. HTL! weaves together handmade shadow puppetry, three vintage overhead projectors, live original folk music, and American iconography to tell a story as wild and expansive and intimate as the West itself.

Bristol Riverside Theatre welcomes back Don McCloskey for a one-night stand on August 25th. Don McCloskey, a singer-songwriter born in Bristol PA, returns to the stage he grew up performing on for a rollicking night of interactive sing-a-longs and multi-media storytelling. With a repertoire spanning three albums, two decades, and multiple genres, Don will be sharing the stories of the people and places in Bristol that inspired and helped shaped his eclectic musical style.

After coast to coast critical acclaim, Marga Gomez comes to The Marsh Berkeley with Latin Standards, her 12th and final work in the solo performance genre, named a "Critic's Pick" by The New York Times, which hailed its "winning heart and humor." Gomez explores the loving, funny, and true story of perseverance and creative addiction passed down from immigrant father to lesbian daughter as she describes life as the child of a blustery Cuban showman. Between vivid portrayals of characters from 1960's Manhattan to present day San Francisco, Gomez ponders the ballads penned by her late father Willy Chevalier: a comedian, producer, entrepreneur, and composer of dance tunes steeped in jealously and obsession.
