?When the rock opera "Jesus Christ Superstar" hit the Broadway stage in 1971, it was an electrifying leap into a new kind of musical. The power of the music and the story that it tells still resonate some four decades later. Andrew Lloyd Webber's and Tim Rice's Tony-Award winning show will be presented by Playful Theatre Productions at Mercer County Community College's (MCCC) Kelsey Theatre in November. Performance dates are Todays, Nov. 7 and 14 at 8 p.m.; Saturdays, Nov. 8 and 15 at 8 p.m.; and Sundays, Nov. 9 and 16 at 2 p.m. Kelsey Theatre is conveniently located on the college's West Windsor campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road. A reception with the cast and crew follows the opening night performance on Nov. 7.

He is best known for his play 'Sordid Lives' which has spawned over 300 additional stage productions, a feature film, and a successful television series for LOGO which starred Olivia Newton John, Rue McClanahan and Leslie Jordan. The Los Angeles Times has called him 'a master of Texas comedy'. Shores brings the most recent iteration of his one-man-show, MY SORDID BEST, to The Copa Palm Springs for two performances, tonight and tomorrow night, at 7:30 pm. I had the chance to chat with Mr. Shores about his upcoming Palm Springs show and, well, his Sordid Life in general. Here are a few excerpts from that conversation.

Today in 2011, Godspell opened at the Circle in the Square Theatre, where it ran for 264 performances. Godspell is a musical by Stephen Schwartz and John-Michael Tebelak. It opened off Broadway on May 17, 1971, and has played in various touring companies and revivals many times since.The structure of the musical is that of a series of parables, based on the Gospel of Matthew (though three of the parables featured are recorded only in the Gospel of Luke). These are then interspersed with a variety of modern music set primarily to lyrics from traditional hymns, with the passion of Christ treated briefly near the end of the performance.

He and Elwood do everything together including driving his sister Veta and his niece Myrtle Mae completely crazy! When Veta decides she has had enough and tries to commit him, she herself is mistaken for the nutty one and accidentally committed!

The North Shore Civic Ballet (NSCB) is ringing in the holiday season with its annual online auction from November 17 to December 7, 2014.
