Overture Seeks Musical Theater Teaching Artists For DMIS

Overture Center for the Arts is seeking experienced musical theater choreographers, directors, musical directors, actors, producers and theater education staff to train as teaching artists for Disney Musicals in Schools.  The program, currently running at nine Madison Metropolitan School District elementary schools is designed to create sustainable theater programs in elementary schools for students in grades three-five. Through the program, participating schools produce a Disney KIDS musical in their school community and join in a culminating performance at Overture. (more...)

The program is an initiative developed by Disney Theatrical Productions to create sustainable theater programs in under-resourced elementary schools. Valley Youth Theatre (VYT) opens their 23rd production of A Winnie-the-Pooh Christmas Tail, this Friday, November 30, at 7:30 pm, at Valley Youth Theatre.  In addition to opening night, public performances include Saturdays and Sundays, December 1, 2, 8, 9, 15, 16 and 23 at 12:30 pm and 3:00 pm, as well as three performances on Saturday, December 22, at 11:00 am, 1:30 pm and 4:00 pm. Adventure Creates Assistant Directors Fellowship for People of Color

Adventure Theatre MTC (ATMTC), recent recipient of the Weissberg Foundation's 2016-2019 Fund for Diversity in Theater to engage and expand new voices and audiences in DC-area theatres, announces its commitment to a goal of 50% people of color representation (artists, designers and technicians) in its professional theatre season to better reflect the diversity of our audiences and community. This commitment is part of its EDI initiatives which includes a new Fellowship program for Assistant Directors who are people of color and working with a consensus organizer on its production of Huckleberry Finn's Big River. Recognizing a need in the industry for equity and diversity and to reflect the highly diverse DC and Montgomery County area, Adventure Theatre MTC has already upheld this commitment with its current production of Blueberries for Sal cast and creative team. The nonprofit AT&T Performing Arts Center is pleased to announce the five schools that have been selected to participate in the 2019 Disney Musicals in Schools program. The program is an initiative developed by Disney Theatrical Productions to create sustainable theatre programs in under- resourced elementary schools. The five schools are a part of Dallas Independent School District. The five schools include L.O. Donald Leadership Academy, Ronald E. AT&T Performing Arts Center Awarded Grant for Disney Musicals In Schools Program

The three-year program is an initiative developed by Disney Theatrical Productions to create sustainable theatre programs in under-resourced public elementary schools. The Center and Disney will select five Dallas Independent School District elementary schools to participate in this year's program. An additional five schools will be chosen for the program in 2020. The Center is one of the first organizations chosen for the program in the southwest United States. (more...)

Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma has been awarded a $120,000 grant from Disney to bring the Disney Musicals in Schools program to Oklahoma City Public Schools.  The program is a free initiative developed by Disney Theatrical Productions to create sustainable theater programs in under-resourced elementary schools.  The grant funds two years of programming; Lyric Theatre will select five area public elementary schools to participate in 2018-19 and another five will be selected for next year.
