On this episode of West of Broadway, we discuss Lara's trip to the Pantages to see The Phantom of the Opera tour now playing until July 7th and then we touch on the Geffen Playhouse's production of Mysterious Circumstances. Inspired by The New Yorker article Mysterious Circumstances: The Strange Death of a Sherlock Holmes Fanatic by David Grann, the play centers around the true story of the mysterious death of Richard Lancelyn Green, the world's foremost scholar on Sherlock Holmes.

Josh Brolin, Miles Teller, Norbert Leo Butz, Dale Dickey, Eddie Marsan, Bailey Noble and Katheryn Winnick have joined the cast of Flag Day, directed by Sean Penn and starring his children Dylan and Hopper, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Huntington Theatre Company announced today that tickets to The Purists are now on sale to the general public. The world premiere play, directed by Tony and Grammy Award winner Billy Porter (Kinky Boots, 'Pose' on FX), will begin performances at the South EndCalderwood Pavilion at the BCA (527 Tremont St., Boston) on Friday, August 30, 2019 and will run through Sunday, September 29, 2019.

MTV Studios, a unit of MTV and Viacom (NASDAQ: VIAB, VIA) today announced Peabody(R), Emmy(R) and Golden Globe(R) winning actress Tracee Ellis Ross will voice and executive produce 'Jodie,' the first in a series of spinoffs based on MTV's iconic 'Daria' franchise. 'Daria,' which ran for five seasons (1997-2002) came out of MTV's 'Beavis and Butthead' based on the widespread appeal of the Daria Morgendorffer character whose wry wisdom was beyond her high school years. Daria was hailed for her feminist take on key issues such as class, race and gender.

Hit Broadway comedy Beyond Therapy will tour the UK this Autumn starring Tracy Shaw and Matt Lapinskas, opening at the Gordon Craig Theatre, Stevenage on Wednesday 4 September 2019. Full tour schedule can be found below.

Deafinitely Theatre and Birmingham Stage Company today announce a London venue and additional tour date for the world premiere tour of Horrible Histories - Dreadful Deaf - Deafinitely not for the faint-hearted!. The production will additionally play at Stratford Circus Arts Centre on 16 June, and at Derby Theatre on 21 June.

dick clark productions and NBC announced today the first round of performers for the "2019 Billboard Music Awards," which include top artists Kelly Clarkson, Lauren Daigle, Khalid, Panic! At The Disco and Sam Smith & Normani.  The three-hour telecast will air live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Wednesday, May 1 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on NBC and will feature this year's hottest musical acts, unexpected collaborations and buzzworthy moments.
