‘Titaníque’ Review: A Wild Joyride With Celine Dion as Our Kooky Guide

From: New York Times By: Elisabeth Vincentelli Date: 2026-04-12

7 / 10

Fortunately the romantic couple does a lot of cleanup work. Barrera, whose extensive screen credits include Vanessa in the movie version of “In the Heights,” makes an assured Broadway debut, filling with ease the difficult niche this Rose occupies: the funny ingénue. She has terrific scene partners in John Riddle as Rose’s smarmy fiancé, Cal, and in Rousouli, whose goofball Jack is mostly defined by wide-eyed enthusiasm and form-fitting pants. If anybody thought this kind of fare wasn’t ready for Broadway, well, “Cats: The Jellicle Ball” is playing across the street and “Oh, Mary!” is a couple of blocks away. “Titaníque” may be uneven, but at least it fits right in.

‘Titanique’ Broadway Review: Jim Parsons Jumps Aboard the Sinking-Ship Musical

From: The Wrap By: Robert Hofler Date: 2026-04-14

6 / 10

Jim Parsons joins this distinctly downtown cast, and his drag take on Rose’s money-grubbing mother sets back transvestites to a pre-Dame Edna era. Parsons makes no attempt to appear female, scoring major comic points with his baritone and often butch delivery. He’s so awesomely ugly, complete with two white doves above his receding hairline, that his character screams for a big solo entrance. It’s a major missed comic opportunity that Parsons enters the stage as simply part of the ensemble.
