John E. Moore Releases A FISHERMAN'S WILDLIFE
by BWW News Desk - Mar 7, 2017

When someone spends weeks at a time in the wilds of the west, it's likely the person will have lots of encounters with the native fauna. An avid fisherman and hiker shares photos he's taken during his extended trips exploring lakes and trails in a new book released by Dog Ear Publishing. In the course of his time spent in Idaho, Montana and Washington gathering information for fishing guides, author John E. Moore has had encounters with a fair share of local wildlife. Moose, antelope, deer, bison, bear and mountain goats are just a few of the animals he has been able to 'shoot' with his camera. Just as fascinating as the color photos are the snippets of commentary Moore provides, letting readers know where various photos were taken and under what circumstances. 'A Fisherman's Wildlife' offers an up-close and personal look at the wildlife that exists in the wide-open spaces found in the American West. Using caution, Moore was able to capture animals from close distances, creating an unforgettable portfolio of the beauty of nature. Moore has written 11 fishing guides, and the 10-time Washing State record holder has certified weight records for five species of fish. Born into an outdoor-oriented family in northwest Washington, Moore enjoys searching for new places to fish and has explored sites in Idaho, Washington and Montana. He also wrote 'Biography of a Man: The Life of Chuck Moore,' about his father. He has three daughters, Three Sons-in-law and two grandsons. New Novel by Former Judge REELFOOT KILLINS is Released
by BWW News Desk - Jan 17, 2017

A gruesome double murder and the trial of a suspect who might be headed to death row consumes a community for a decade. Readers can follow the action from an anonymous tip through the process of justice in a new book, expected to be released soon by Dog Ear Publishing. 'Reelfoot Killins' centers on the murders of a drug dealer and a well-respected businesswoman. They don't seem to have any obvious connection, and the motive for the murders isn't apparent, but their brutal, execution-style slayings on Reelfoot Lake in northwest Tennessee make it clear their deaths were no accident. An anonymous tip leads to the arrest of two brothers who are local duck hunting and fishing guides. The case seems to be a slam-dunk because of the pair's criminal history, but the suspects seem to think they've got justice on their side and act accordingly. There may be more to the crimes than meets the eye. Readers follow the characters through several states and a world away in war-torn Iraq. Told primarily from the point of view of the veteran trial judge, the story reveals the murders and the ripple effect they have on Judge Jim Gordon, the suspects, the attorneys and the entire community. In the end, events lead the now-retired judge to a surprising viewpoint he chooses to reveal on national television. The book's twists and turns take readers on a thrill ride that takes its inspiration from the controversy of the death penalty and everything that it entails. Joe G. Riley wrote this novel from the perspective of a judge, made easier thanks to his 26 years on the bench. He was a trial judge for 18 years near Reelfoot Lake in Lake and Dyer Counties in Tennessee, trying several capital cases and imposing the death penalty in murder cases. He served as an appellate court judge for almost eight years, writing and participating in numerous death penalty opinions. Riley is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Tennessee and an honors graduate of the University of Tennessee College of Law. He and his wife, Connie, have been married for 47 years. They have Three Sons and five grandchildren. The retired judge is an avid waterfowl hunter and outdoorsman, as are his sons. BWW Review: A MOON FOR THE MISBEGOTTEN at Playhouse On Park
by Joseph Harrison - Feb 27, 2017

'There is no present or future-only the past happening over and over again - now." These words from Eugene O'Neill's A MOON FOR THE MISBEGOTTEN illustrate so poignantly the emotions on display on stage at Playhouse on Park in their current production of the O'Neill classic. Whether the past being referenced are the Three Sons who one after the other have escaped the oppressive farm life with their father Phil Hogan, or the haunting past actor Jim Tyrone has tried to bury with alcohol and women, audiences get a powerful taste of the lives of these vivid and broken characters in this latest production on the Playhouse stage. BWW Review: THE LION IN WINTER at PICT Classic Theatre Provides Entertaining Night Led By Veteran Performer
by Mike Mekus - Dec 19, 2016

Few things are as riveting as watching an actor or actress that demands an audience's attention 100% of the time while they are onstage/onscreen. Immediately, I think of Patti LuPone in Gypsy. Granted, Mama Rose is a role that's designed to be all-consuming, but LuPone was raved about as being mesmerizing, so much so that she inevitably won the Tony Award in 2008. Leonardo DiCaprio in Martin Scorsese's 2013 film The Wolf of Wall Street is another performance that comes to mind when I think of actors that require every ounce of my attention. Though a controversial film, DiCaprio was universally hailed for his brilliant portrayal of the morally questionable Jordan Belfort, so much so that he garnered himself an Oscar nomination.
