As the Year of Chicago Theatre continues, Chicago theatres open the fall season with some of the most exciting theatre in the country. Offerings from the city's more than 250 producing theatres include a range of special fall programming, featuring everything from the latest musicals to highly anticipated world premieres.

LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS announces that Tony Award nominee Gideon Glick (To Kill A Mockingbird, Significant Other) will join the cast of the production for two weeks only, from Tuesday, November 5 a?" Sunday, November 17, while original star Jonathan Groff is on a scheduled leave from the production.

Audiences are getting ready to head to Skid Row this fall! As BroadwayWorld previously reported, Howard Ashman and Alan Menken's classic sci-fi musical Little Shop of Horrors is returning to New York at the Westside Theatre, with previews beginning September 17th and opening night set for October 17th. The production is set to run for a limited engagement through November 24th. Shudder, AMC Networks' premium streaming service for horror, thriller and the supernatural, today announced additional casting for its upcoming Creepshow anthology series, executive produced by Greg Nicotero (The Walking Dead). Joining the cast are Grammy winners Kid Cudi (Scott Mescudi) and Big Boi (Antwan Patton), along with Jeffrey Combs (Star Trek, Re-Animator), Bruce Davison (Longtime Companion, X-Men) and DJ Qualls (The Man in the High Castle, Supernatural). Shudder also revealed an additional Creepshow story, 'The Finger,' written by award-winning horror novelist David J. Schow (The Crow) and directed by series showrunner Greg Nicotero.

Joining the cast are acclaimed actors David Arquette (Scream franchise), Tricia Helfer (Battlestar Galactica, Lucifer) and Dana Gould (The Simpsons, Stan Against Evil). Schimmel Center at Pace University continues its 2018-19 Dance Series with the return of Battery Dance on Thursday, February 28, 2019 at 7:30pm. The evening's repertoire is characterized by choreography and music inspired by worldwide sources, reflecting American society and its multiplicity of cultures, with contributing artists including Silk Road Ensemble member Kevork Mourad, Grammy Award winner Kinan Azmeh, and Battery Dance Founder and Artistic Director Jonathan Hollander. BroadwayWorld is saddened to learn of the passing of Candice Earley. According to an obituary, she passed away at home after an, 8-year struggle with Multiple Systems Atrophy. She was 68.

Drayton Entertainment announces casting for Rocky: The Musical. This adrenaline-fueled musical based on Sylvester Stallone's Academy© Award-winning film will launch the 2019 Season at the Hamilton Family Theatre Cambridge. The production will run for four weeks from March 6 to March 31.

Sundance Institute will gather 20 celebrated and revered expert voices across film, art, culture and science to award feature-length and short films shown at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival with 12 prizes, announced at a ceremony February 2 that will be livestreamed at sundance.org and on YouTube. Short Film Awards will be announced at a separate ceremony on January 29 and will also be livestreamed. The Festival takes place January 24 through February 3 in Park City, Salt Lake City and Sundance, Utah.

LAGUNA PLAYHOUSE presents the fourth show in its 98th season, four-time Emmy winner Michael Learned ('The Waltons') and Lance E. Nichols (HBO's 'Treme') staring in the Pulitzer Prize award-winning play, DRIVING MISS DAISY, written by Alfred Uhry and directed by Michael Bloom.  Executive Director Ellen Richard comments, 'We are thrilled to bring in 2019 with this powerful and still vitally important play.' Just last night, Manhattan Theatre Club presented its 2018 Fall Benefit, honoring legendary three-time Tony Award winner Bernadette Peters. Peters has been a longtime member of the MTC family, since she co-starred with Christine Baranski in Sally and Marsha, directed by Lynne Meadow in 1982, at which time she joined the MTC Board.

I cannot even think of enough accolades to share about the current production being staged by Greenway Arts Alliance (Whitney Weston and Pierson Blaetz, Co-Founders and Co-Artistic Directors) at the Greenway Court Theatre (544 N. Fairfax Avenue, Los Angeles) through December 9. The totally entertaining and artistically brilliant production, directed and choreographed by NAACP Theater Award-winner Jeffrey Polk, pulled me in from the moment it started until the end, given the amazingly talented cast who bring the characters so realistically to life that you can actually feel all the emotions each is going through from moment to moment. You will laugh, be fearful, cry and celebrate with all of them by the time the show ends.
