Grassroots crossover sensation We Banjo 3 (WB3) is pleased to announce their winter and spring “Rise + Shine” tour dates. Nominees for the 30th Annual LA Stage Alliance Ovation Awards were announced on Tuesday, November 5 on at This Stage [ThisStage.la]. The ceremony will take place Monday, January 13, 2020 at The Theatre at Ace Hotel in downtown Los Angeles. Among the nominees are director Michael Arden and actor Jefferson Mays for A Christmas Carol, and Tina star Daniel J. Watts.

The 8th Annual Key West Film Festival announces its official 2019 lineup including major fall films from Noah Baumbach and Destin Daniel Cretton. More than 115 films and V/R pieces will be shown during the 5-day festival, which runs November 20-24. Nearly half of the feature films at the festival will be Florida festival premieres.

The stranded G.I.s find themselves with missing weapons, few supplies, and a broken radio. They realize they must rely on the locals for survival but, like current-day warfare, the locals fear the loss of their culture, their women and their safety with the presence of foreigners on their land. Defenders opens on November 9, with performances continuing through December 8 at The Broadwater Black Box in Hollywood. One lower-priced preview takes place on November 8.

Zachary James, bass, will be making his highly anticipated Metropolitan Opera debut on November 8 in the Met premiere of Philip Glass' Akhnaten. Described as a 'true stage animal' by Opera News, James is an international opera singer known for his 'huge, robust bass' which 'resonates with force' (Bach Track), 'tremendous power and presence' (The Arts Desk, London) and 'intrinsically beautiful', 'cavernous bass' with 'oomph and range' (Opera News). Akhnaten, directed by Phelim McDermott, runs November 8 through December 7. On November 23, the production will be part of the Met's 'Live in HD' movie theater transmission series and will be broadcast to cinemas across the world.
