Spring is coming in like a lion at Joe's Pub. This week our stage features Lebanese-American, New York-based pianist Tarek Yamani and the Tarek Yamani Trio; Becca Blackwell's latest deeply personal and deeply absurd solo show; Vietnamese pop star-turned protest singer Mai Khoi; Ryan Raftery's new satire IVANKA 2020; acclaimed lyricist and performer Charlotte Martin; celebrated comedienne Catherine Cohen; an album release concert from Divahn; a celebration of International Women's Day and Women's Month with ¡JEFAS!: A Celebration Of Latina Songwriters & Women In Music; and the return of Yemen Blues' brand of Yemenite chants swirled with jazz and rock grooves.

ALYXX Releases New Single 'My Last Goodbye'

​​​​​​​ New York-based hard rock project ALYXX have released their new single 'My Last Goodbye,' out on all digital platforms NOW. ALYXX's first release of the new year, 'My Last Goodbye' is an emotive open letter that waves goodbye to a toxic vice. After embarking on their first tour in 2019, ALYXX has spent extensive time solidifying their emboldened sound. Impassioned and dynamic, ALYXX is creating a unique blend of theatrics and rock instrumentation to create a synth-metal dream. The track marks a new era for ALYXX, expanding on what she achieved in 2019 and continuing to pave a dynamic path with her sound. About the single, ALYXX states:

THE INCIDENT ROOM to Make US Premiere Off Broadway at 59E59 Theaters

59E59 Theaters (Val Day, Artistic Director; Brian Beirne, Managing Director) welcomes the US premiere of THE INCIDENT ROOM, written by Olivia Hirst and David Byrne and directed by Beth Flintoff and David Byrne. Produced by New Diorama Theatre and Greenwich Theatre for Brits Off Broadway, THE INCIDENT ROOM begins performances on Thursday, April 23 for a limited engagement through Sunday, May 24. Press Opening is Wednesday, April 29 at 7:00 pm. The performance schedule is Tuesday - Friday at 7:00 pm; Saturday at 2:00 pm & 7:00 pm; Sunday at 2:00 pm, with an added performance on Sunday, April 26 at 7 pm. Performances are at 59E59 Theaters (59 East 59th Street, between Park and Madison). Single tickets are $25 - $70 ($49 for 59E59 Members). Met Orchestra to Tour Internationally For the First Time in Almost 20 Years

The Metropolitan Opera today announced that the Met Orchestra will tour Europe in the summer of 2021, immediately following its annual residency at Carnegie Hall. With all performances conducted by the Met's Jeanette Lerman-Neubauer Music Director, Yannick Nézet-Séguin, the tour includes stops at the Barbican Centre in London on June 29, 2021; the Philharmonie in Paris on June 30 and July 1, 2021; and the Festspielhaus in Baden-Baden, Germany, on July 3 and 4, 2021. Four of the world's leading opera stars join the Met Orchestra: mezzo-soprano Joyce DiDonato, who will sing selections from Berlioz's Les Troyens, and soprano Christine Goerke, tenor Brandon Jovanovich, and bass Günther Groissböck, who will perform the first act of Wagner's Die Walküre.

Chicago Danztheatre Ensemble Will End 19th Season With Devised Performance On The Immigrant Experience

Chicago Danztheatre Ensemble has announced the final performance of its 2019-20 Art & Activism Performance Series, WHAT WE CARRIED, a documentary-style danztheatre work created by ensemble-members that brings to life the voices, stories, and struggles of asylum-seekers, featuring text pulled from interviews with local immigrants. The performance is also a collaboration with sculptural artist Jean Parisi, serving as both devised performance and immersive exhibition of her work. WHAT WE CARRIED will play May 8-16, 2020 at Chicago Danztheatre's permanent home, Ebenezer Lutheran Church Auditorium, 1650 W. Foster Ave. in Chicago's Andersonville neighborhood. The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS) and CBC today confirmed the final phase of artists set to perform at The 2020 JUNO Awards Broadcast, hosted by Alessia Cara. Québecois neoclassical pianist Alexandra Stréliski, R&B and rap artist Ali Gatie, acclaimed singer-songwriter City and Colour, Indigenous artist iskwē, rising country singer Meghan Patrick and bluegrass ensemble The Dead South will take the stage for this year's biggest night in Canadian music. They will be joining Daniel Caesar, Lennon Stella, The Glorious Sons and Tory Lanez along with host Alessia Cara. As well, in her first appearance at The JUNO Awards since 2013, Canadian icon, Anne Murray will return to induct Jann Arden into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame.
