Mason Holdings has joined forces with Nancy Manocherian's the cell to present Found, a unique and wholly immersive theatrical experience that allows guests to step into the world of fine artist, Mikel Glass. Directed by Kristjan Thor, the theatrical installation will play performances Wednesday, September 25 through Saturday, October 26, 2019, with three special performances by Sister Sylvester. In 2015, singer/songwriting phenom Ariana Gillis was, as they say, going places, until a chance accident sidelined her career. Winner of numerous awards in her native Canada, including the Canadian Folk Music Award, her life was devastated by a bizarre incident. Her collision with a car door caused a rare form of concussion which was not diagnosed until much later, rendering her unable to work or perform. A devastating injury can lead to the early end of a career, something Gillis had a lot of time to contemplate, but fortunately she was able to continue, ultimately.

New York Live Arts (Live Arts) to present the New York premiere of Netta Yerushalmy's Paramodernities, March 14-17, 2019, having commissioned the work as part of the Live Feed Residency Program. The complete six-part encyclopedic series is a multidisciplinary work that weaves theory and performance into a four-hour-long hybrid event. Yerushalmy and a cast of 20 dancers and scholars, ranging in age from 20 to 68, perform deconstructed installments of Nijinsky's “Sacre” (1913), Graham's “Night Journey” (1947), Ailey's “Revelations” (1960), a mix of Cunningham works “Rainforest,” “Sounddance”, “Points in Space”, “Beach Birds”, and “Ocean” (1968-1990), dance numbers from the 1969 Fosse's film “Sweet Charity”, and a response to Balanchine's “Agon” (1957) that includes none of the original choreography.

The Gish Prize Trust today announced that the inspired Music and Artistic Director of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Gustavo Dudamel, has been selected to receive the 25th annual Dorothy and Lillian Gish Prize in recognition of his ongoing achievements as a conductor and an advocate for music education. Established in 1994 through the will of legendary stage and screen actress Lillian Gish, known as the First Lady of Cinema, the Dorothy and Lillian Gish Prize is one of the most prestigious honors given to artists in the United States and bears one of the largest cash awards, currently valued at approximately $250,000.
