The Gish Prize Trust today announced that the inspired Music and Artistic Director of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Gustavo Dudamel, has been selected to receive the 25th annual Dorothy and Lillian Gish Prize in recognition of his ongoing achievements as a conductor and an advocate for music education. Established in 1994 through the will of legendary stage and screen actress Lillian Gish, known as the First Lady of Cinema, the Dorothy and Lillian Gish Prize is one of the most prestigious honors given to artists in the United States and bears one of the largest cash awards, currently valued at approximately $250,000.

The critically acclaimed theatre company, Mason Holdings, will premiere their new site-specific production of Consumption, at the Beverly Social Club in Kensington Brooklyn. The limited engagement runs November 9 - December 8.

NYC's The Men have made a name for themselves as wayfaring musicians, constantly evolving and eluding their listeners. Before they were genre-hopping through country, post-punk, noise rock, and more, they were applying that experimental nature within the more confined space of punk. Within that genre they were wildly adventurous, playing noise shows, hardcore shows, rock shows, and switching up the instrumentation as they saw fit, while always operating within a general punk ethos. 

Acclaimed playwright Sarah Ruhl - who twice has been a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for drama, a Tony Award nominee and the recipient of a MacArthur 'Genius' Grant - has been named as the 2018-19 Ingram New Works Playwriting Fellow at Nashville Repertory Theatre.

Austin-based indie singer-songwriter Johnny Goudie is gearing up for the release of his solo EP 'Leper Hands' this Thursday, Sept. 13 and his official EP release show at One-2-One Bar also on Sept. 13. Doors for this show are at 7 p.m., with the soulful Aaron Stephens opening at 7:30 p.m. and Johnny Goudie on at 8:30 p.m. Austin pop musician Sarah Dossey and Shy Beast vocalist MC Glaeser will also be singing backup for Goudie at this show. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased here. Goudie will also be performing for HAAM Benefit Day at Antone's Record Shop tomorrow, Sept. 11, at 4:30 p.m. The info for this show can be found here. The Consortium of Asian American Theaters & Artists (CAATA), dedicated to advancing the field of Asian American theater, announces Chicago as the host city for the Sixth National Asian American Theater Conference and Festival (ConFest), to be held August 13 - 18. ConFest Early Bird passes start at $350 and are available at CAATA.net beginning Wednesday, May 16 at 10 a.m.

A funny, intimate and heartbreaking portrait of one of the world's most beloved and inventive comedians, ROBIN WILLIAMS: COME INSIDE MY MIND will debut MONDAY, JULY 16 (8:00-10:00 p.m. ET/PT), exclusively on HBO. Told largely through Williams' own words, the film celebrates what he brought to comedy and to the culture at large, from the wild days of late-1970s L.A. to his death in 2014. Marina Zenovich (Emmy® winner for HBO's “Roman Polanski: Wanted and Desired”) directs.

The Frist Art Museum presents Chaos and Awe: Painting for the 21st Century, a sweeping survey of paintings from around the world that invite contemplation of seemingly ungraspable forces shaping contemporary society, from the ideological to the technological. Organized by Frist Art Museum chief curator Mark Scala, the exhibition will be on view in the Museum's Ingram Gallery from June 22 through September 16, 2018. It will be presented at the Chrysler Museum of Art, Norfolk, Virginia, from November 15, 2018, through April 28, 2019.

According to Variety, Hugh Jackman is in talks to join the upcoming film Bad Education, written by Mike Makowsky, writer of I Think We're Alone Now. Bad Education will be directed by Cory Finley, who directed Thoroughbreds.
