Actress Jillian Bell successes have been growing like comedy kudzu as a result of her bright spirit and comedic brilliance. Bell consistently shines in memorable performances including 'Brittany Runs a Marathon', '22 Jump Street', 'Workaholics', ''Idiotsitter', 'Bless The Harts', and the comedy 'Sword of Trust' filmed in Birmingham. We chatted recently about running on the road of her career.

British indie-rock outfit Beat Hotel has announced that they will be releasing their new eponymous mini-album via Occulation Recordings in the new year. Ahead of that, they are previewing their first single 'Feel It', an upbeat and notably positive song and their first composition in a long time. This is the first taste of the new 6-track offering. Both the single and album will be offered for download, but the full album is also being pressed on 12” vinyl.

As the 19th Century dawns, politicians of all political persuasions gather in London to abolish the slave trade once and for all. Kansas City Repertory Theatre (KCRep), announced the full schedule for this season's popular Monday Night Playwright Series, which opened with BURIED ROOTS, its first play of the series, on Monday. The series features a line-up of new and returning playwrights including Michelle Tyrene Johnson, Darren Canady, James Still, Migdalia Cruz, Mashuq Mushtaq Deen and Ellen McLaughlin. Today Nashville-via-Boston DIY scene duo Twen share a new single. The celestial and angular epic, “Baptism,” out today, is taken from their forthcoming album, Awestruck. On this track, which the band has played live for over three years now, Jane Fitzsimmons' impressionistic lyrics dream of yearning, of wanting to be born and becoming, while guitarist Ian Jonesembodies time itself by revisiting a riff written as a teenager, reworked with fresh perspective. The Harold Clurman Laboratory Theater Company (Tom Oppenheim, Artistic Director) has announced a limited engagement of William Shakespeare's King Lear. Under the direction of Nike Doukas, the production will feature H. Richard Green in the title role, Mark Bramhall as Gloucester, Stephen Caffrey as Kent, and David Sussman as The Fool. Opening is set for Thursday, July 18, at 8pm.

CoCo and the Butterfields have shared their new EP, Monsters. Previously released as a collection of acoustic tracks, the new release has been re-recorded as a fully orchestrated representation of the band's creative evolution since its conception six years ago.

By contrasting the slippery, subjective narratives of both romantic and geopolitical relationships, we point at the sacrifices made in order to 'win' in both arenas. What narratives will we create and what secrets will we bury in order to come out on top, in both love and war? What are we willing to ruin on the road to victory?
