Lone Star Theatre Co is proud to announce that their upcoming season will include new works by Alan Charnock, Emily Comisar, Judith Leora, David Davila and more. The   growing company, now in it's fourth season is also excited to announce the addition of playwright/producer Emily Comisar (Track Twelve) to the team. She joins Lone Star as the new managing director.

Theatre Odyssey is pleased to announce the finalist winners of its inaugural One-Act Play Festival. The selected one-acts were chosen from 12 semi-finalists that were reduced from 100 plays submitted from over eighty playwrights in twenty-six states. The four finalists will be presented to the public as fully-produced plays at the Glenridge Performing Arts Center November 1-4, 2018 where they will be adjudicated by a distinguished panel of judges who will determine the winner of Best Play ($1000) and Runner-up ($500).

James Carey, Producing Artistic Director of The ATTIC Theatre and Film Center has announced repertoire to be presented as part of the company's 18th Annual Denise Ragan Wiesenmeyer One Act Play Festival (formerly known as the One Act Marathon), a contest for playwrights. Performances for this event are supported, in part, by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors through the Los Angeles County Arts Commission.

Playwright Demetra Kareman of Bronx, NY has been announced as the 1st Place Winner of The ATTIC Theatre and Film Center's 18th Annual Denise Ragan Wiesenmeyer One Act Play Festival for her play, Lesson & Carols, said Jamie Gray, The ATTIC Theatre and Film Center's Literary Manager and Producer of the One Act Play Festival. Gray continued, 'The 2nd Place Winner of the competition is playwright Wendy Graf of Los Angeles, CA for her play Bethany/Bakol.'

Theatre Odyssey is pleased to announce the winner and runner up of its inaugural One-Act Play Festival open to U.S. playwrights. "Tagged" by Tampa-based playwright Jim Moss took the top prize - named "Best Play" and awarded $1,000, while "Motherless Child" by Louisiana-based playwright Peggy Aultman was named "Runner-Up" and received $500. The two winners were chosen from four finalists that were granted full productions at Glenridge Performing Arts Center November 1-4, 2018. The finalists were reduced from 12 semi-finalists presented as readings to the public. Over 100 plays from over eighty playwrights in twenty-six states were submitted to the playwriting competition.

Last year's inaugural outing was attended by hundreds of people over a single weekend. This year the festival will run over 10 days with additional programming and added festivities from June 17th through June 27th once again at The Ringwald Theatre in downtown Ferndale.

Artists' Exchange is celebrating the 10th anniversary of their One Act Play Festival this summer at Theatre 82 & Cafe in Cranston, Rhode Island. The first wave of the festival began this past weekend, and will continue July 24th and 25th. Featured in the festival are a variety of sixteen original one-act plays, ranging from satirical comedy, to relatable drama, and even some unexpected over-the-top humor. Written by fifteen local and national playwrights and performed in the round in Artists' Exchange new black box space by a fun group of local actors, these short plays will have you laughing right from the start.

Set in the mountains of County Galway, the play tells the twisted, darkly comic tale of a lonely woman in her forties, trying to escape from the rule of her aging, cantankerous mother. Raices Theatre Company, Western New York's premier Latinx theater production company, will stage the latest version of its Desde El Puente one-act play festival opening Friday, April 19th. This is the fourth edition of Raices' flagship play festival and the first one to include original music compositions developed by members of the Raices ensemble. 'This musical version seemed like a natural progression in our development of Desde El Puente and with our ensemble,' said Victoria Perez, Artistic Director of Raices. 'Musicals are my favorite way to tell a story. The Latino culture is, in part, driven by our music. Therefore it seems like the perfect way to continue to tell our stories.'
