The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical opens officially tonight, October 16, at the Longacre Theatre (220 W. 48th Street).

Actor-singer-dancer-choreographer Adam Fleming became a part of Broadway history originating the roles of Sketch in Hairspray and Lucas in Bare. In 2005, he starred in David Brind and Adam Salky's acclaimed short film, Dare, about two teenage boys' tense, spark-filled encounter in a pool following high school play practice. Dare gained a cult following as part of Strand Releasing's 'Boys Life' series and ultimately achieved worldwide popularity via more than 12 Million views on Youtube. The fan fervor (and fan fiction!) eventually inspired a sequel, ten years later. The original and the sequel are now being presented together as The Dare Project and attracting new legions of fans.

The Lightning Thief is currently in previews at Broadway's Longacre Theatre, ahead of its October 16 opening. Fans have been loving this new musical since its premiere in 2014, and now it has finally hit the Great White Way for a limited run. Despite its general pleasant nature, many cute moments, and a plethora of genuine talent on stage, this stage musical adaptation of CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY---Roald Dahl's beloved 1964 children's novel about a sweet, affable kid who wins a meet-and-greet (and more!) with an eccentric Candy Man named Willy Wonka--- comes off less magical and whimsical than one would hope it would be considering its source material. Is this national tour production---now continuing performances at Segerstrom Center for the Arts through June 9---joyful enough for kids and kids-at-heart to enjoy? Sure. But, overall, something about it feels just slightly under-baked, as if all the additional necessary ingredients that would have made this musical extraordinary didn't quite make it into the mix.

Nickelodeon today unveiled the brand-new cast of '90s icon, All That, featuring a talented and diverse group of comedians who reflect the spirit and humor of today's generation of kids. Ranging in age from 12-15, each kid brings their own unique comedic skill to the show, from impressions of today's biggest celebrities, to original characters inspired by their lives, to physical comedy sketches. Executive produced by original cast members Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell, All That premieres on Saturday, June 15, at 8:30pm (ET/PT) on Nickelodeon.
