The Muny announced today that it will offer 10 weeks of free online Muny entertainment for the summer of 2020. For 10 consecutive Monday nights, with a single repeat stream on the subsequent Thursday, audiences and fans can experience the magic of their Muny summer online at muny.org with both curated and newly created entertainment.

With Father's Day approaching, June is the month to recognize the dads of Broadway. More specifically, highlight their songs that tug at our heartstrings and might cause for an occasional silent wipe of a tear or extra call to dad after the show.

Sherry Glaser is bringing her one-woman a?oeOh My Goddess!  A Comedy of Biblical Proportionsa?? to The Marsh Berkeley for a 6-week run. To say she has had an unorthodox career would be an understatement. After spending her formative years in the early 80's San Diego improv scene alongside other young upstarts like Whoopi Goldberg and Kathy Najimy, she shot to prominence with a?oeFamily Secretsa?? which remains the longest-running female solo show in Off-Broadway history. Shortly thereafter, tragedy struck with the disappearance of her husband and creative partner. Stunned by that turn of events, Glaser focused on raising her two daughters while also developing new works and playing smaller venues close to her northern California home. She is now back, feisty and funny and political as ever.

Author Kay Lyons has announced the upcoming release of her new contemporary romance novel, The Last Goodbye. Scheduled for release by Kindred Spirits Publishing on March 24, 2020, the book is already receiving rave reviews from readers and reviewers. This is the first book in a five book series set along North Carolina's beautiful Wilmington coast.

The Orchard Project has announced its 2020 Gala, A TASTE OF SOMETHING NEW, occurring Monday, March 9, 2020 at the Prince George Ballroom and honoring the work of TONY-Award winning producers Kristin Caskey and Amanda Dubois, OBIE winning writer Kyle Jarrow, and TONY-winning tap legend Savion Glover.

Kevin Smith Kirkwood will direct and choreograph Kinky Boots as part of Season 55. Kirkwood was a cast member of the Broadway production for the entirety of its incredible six year run. Previous to Kirkwood's Broadway turn he was a member of Weathervane Theatre's Resident Acting Company for three seasons. Weathervane credits include Big River, The Wiz, Violet, and his New Hampshire Theatre Alliance award-winning performance of Angel in RENT.

The 2020/21 Mirvish Theatre Season has been announced, featuring 13 shows, including the North American premiere of & Juliet!

Local Performing Arts School THE CENTER STAGE STUDIO (CSS) of Aliso Viejo, Calif. won a National Title & coveted 'Sweepstakes Award' at 'The Musical Theatre Competition of America' held at Disneyland California this past weekend making THE CENTER STAGE STUDIO one of the top Musical Theater Programs in the country.

Houston talent won't be the only thing that will be present at the world premiere staging of Lock by Lock by Houston writer Katherine Mulvaney next weekend. Houston Area Women's Center, a nonprofit organization in Houston that caters to victims of domestic abuse, will also be present at the opening of this one-woman show on Thursday, February 20th, 2020.

I recently had the great pleasure of interviewing Nathan Peck, who will be directing and choreographing the production.

VEW Live! has announced the full lineup for the highly-anticipated inaugural VEWTOPIA Music Festival along with a special $99 two-day pass granting fans access to see the hottest stars in hip-hop, Latin, and Afrobeat music perform at Marlins Park in Miami, FL on January 31st and February 1st 2020, prior to the big game.  Cardi B, Chris Brown, Migos, DaBaby and Nicky Jam lead the lineup which includes DJ Khaled, Gunna, Megan Thee Stallion, Burna Boy, Rema, Alex Sensation, Jeremih, Ty Dolla $ign, Koffee, DaniLeigh, Satori, Shenseea, Afro B, Kid Capri, Squash, Safaree, Kali Cass, with many more surprise guests.

Composer and multi-instrumentalist Jeff Parker's Suite for Max Brown will be released on January 24, 2020 via a newly formed partnership between International Anthem and Nonesuch Records. The album, named for and dedicated to Parker's mother, features nine original songs as well as “Gnarciss,” an interpretation of Joe Henderson's “Black Narcissus,” and John Coltrane's “After the Rain.” Parker plays the majority of the instruments on the record and also engineered most it at home or during his 2018 Headlands Center residency in Sausalito, CA. The album track “Go Away” debuted today.  Parker performs at this year's Big Ears Festival in Knoxville, TN on March 27, as well as spring dates in Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York, among others; the full schedule is below.
