Beginning in 1984, playwright August Wilson wrote a series of ten plays covering each decade of the 20th Century. Together they are known as the Pittsburgh Cycle. Seven Guitars, written in 1995, is set in 1948. The play opens and closes after the funeral of Floyd 'Schoolboy' Barton in the backyard of a Pittsburgh rooming house. In between those two acts Wilson uses flashbacks to tell us the stories of seven friends whose lives and dreams are compellingly human, and in some cases, breathtakingly tragic.

A young woman waits alone in a room for her number to be called. On the other side of the wall, a young man watches her. A choice must be made, one that will disrupt the course of their lives forever. The line between dreams and reality blurs in this multi-media exploration of what it means to wait...to hope...and to remember. In a dangerous, dystopian world, what if love is the most powerful act of resistance?

National New Play Network, the country's alliance of nonprofit theaters that collaborate in innovative ways to develop, produce, and extend the life of new plays, announces the continuation of its 83rd Rolling World Premiere (RWP): Wolf at the Door by Marisela Treviño Orta. With a successful run at New Jersey Repertory Company (Long Branch) and its second production wrapping up at Kitchen Dog Theater this weekend, (Dallas, TX), the play arrives this week at Milagro (May 2-25) before wrapping up its Roll at Halcyon Theatre (2019 Dates TBA in Chicago).

On June 21st, wizard rock pioneers Harry and the Potters (Paul and Joe DeGeorge), will release their first full-length album since 2006: Lumos. Using the magic of rock and roll, it chronicles the events of the seventh and final Harry Potter book where J.K. Rowling's teen wizard and his friends are on the run from a xenophobic, authoritarian regime and must work diligently to take down a dark wizard who capitalizes on fear and emboldens supremacist wizards. In other words, the subject matter of Lumos is extremely relevant. Harry and the Potters will embark on their first national tour of libraries since 2011 in support of the new album. Lumos was first announced to Harry and the Potters' fans with a Kickstarter campaign on April 23rd, doubling its funding goal within 24 hours of launch.

Queer|Art, NYC's home for the creative and professional development of LGBTQ+ artists, is pleased to announce the new Mentors for the 2019-2020 program cycle of Queer|Art|Mentorship (QAM). Applications open May 12th.The Mentorship program is the cornerstone of Queer|Art's activity, providing a platform of support for LGBTQ+ artists focused on creative issues and long-term sustainability of artistic practice. Over the course of a year-long exchange, the program helps to forge new relationships between early-career and established LGBTQ+ artists and curators, bridging professional and social thresholds that often isolate artists by generation and discipline.

'He said he had this power in his hand, fire in his being that he called animal magnetism,' says Al D'Andrea, director and book author of Snowlion Repertory's new musical, MESMERIZED, which will run from May 3 - May 12, 2019, at the Portland Ballet Studio Theater. The Civilians, under the leadership of Founding Artistic Director Steve Cosson and Managing Director Margaret Moll, is proud to present the world premiere of Paul Swan is Dead and Gone by Claire Kiechel, a former member of The Civilians' R&D Group where the play was first developed. Directed by Cosson and starring Tony Torn as the real-life Paul Swan, the production marks Kiechel's New York debut and runs April 25 - May 19, with an opening night set for May 1. For an audience of only 30, the intimate and immersive performance takes place at Torn Page (435 West 22nd Street, Manhattan), a salon-style performance space located inside a historic Chelsea townhouse originally purchased by Torn's parents, Geraldine Page and Rip Torn.

KYLE ABRAHAM is a 2017-18 Joyce Creative Residency Artist, 2016 Doris Duke Recipient, 2015 City Center Choreographer in Residence, a 2013 MacArthur Fellow, and a New York Live Arts Resident Commissioned Artist for 2012-2014.

The Archive Residency is a vital incubator for New York City's most electrifying independent theater companies. This two-year residency offers companies an artistic home for the development and presentation of a new work. Each residency culminates with a world premiere production. Now in its sixth year, the Archive Residency is a collaboration between New Ohio Theatre and IRT Theater (likeminded neighbors in the historic Archive Building in the West Village).

Berkeley Repertory Theatre today announced the full cast for the world premiere of Kiss My Aztec! John Leguizamo teams up with Artistic Director Tony Taccone for this musical comedy, following their collaboration on the hit one-man show Latin History for Morons, which received its world premiere at Berkeley Rep before heading to Broadway. Leguizamo will serve as co-writer and co-lyricist only for Kiss My Aztec! - 11 other talented actors will perform in this production. Taccone will also direct.

 iHeartMedia and Fox Broadcasting Company (FOX) announced today that the 2019 iHeartRadio Music Awards will feature performances by Alicia Keys, Ariana Grande, Halsey, Garth Brooks, John Legend and Kacey Musgraves, with more to be announced. The live two-hour event airs Thursday, March 14 (8:00-10:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed) on FOX from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.  The sixth annual iHeartRadio Music Awards will also air live on iHeartMedia radio stations nationwide and iHeartRadio, the all-in-one digital music, podcast, on demand and live-streaming radio service.

Sordid Lives creator Del Shores returns to Dallas for the world premiere of his new standup show Del Shores The Sh*t Stirrer. Shores will take the stage at The Rose Room March 8, 2019 at 8pm, where he has performed numerous times and filmed three of his standup tours. Shores also filmed part of his last film A Very Sordid Wedding at the legendary room, which featured Dallas queens Cassie Nova, Krystal Summers and Edna Jean Robinson.
