The Color Collective Brings Variety Show to LA

If Saturday Night Live and In Living Color had a love child, it'd be The Color Collective - a jam-packed hour long variety show featuring diverse performers in sketch, stand-up, dance, music and more! "The Color Collective was created in order to provide a platform so that no matter who you are, you would see yourself represented on stage," says Creator and Executive producer Royce Shockley, "When I first started performing a few years ago, there was a severe lack of representation in comedy and I wanted to help change that." The play combines texts from William Shakespeare's Henry VI Part 3 and Richard III, to create a version, which has never been seen before. This reviewer is in awe of what he saw opening weekend of Valley Youth Theatre's production of NEWSIES The Musical: A spectacular triumph of talent and artistry, all the more impressive because of the amazing young performers (ages 12 to 18!) whose versatility and range of technical proficiency is jaw-dropping. Kale Burr is terrific! Tony Spinosa's choreography is tremendous! So is the entire ensemble! An auspicious way to begin the company's 30th Anniversary Season!
