America’s next big musical sensation has its cast! American Idol favorites Diana DeGarmo and Ace Young will lead the incredible cast of the new musical, Skates.

I was fortunate enough to get to head down to DeVos Hall for the first live event I have been to there in over two years, the last being to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory the week the tour was put on pause due to Covid.   I was very excited to come back for a very special event, to not only hear a great concert but to help send off someone whom I’ve gotten to see quite a bit since starting BroadwayWorld Detroit back in 2018.  Grand Rapids Symphony, Associate Conductor John Varineau, retired in May 2021. He was recognized at an outdoor event on August 1, 2021. This concert marked his farewell, where he lead the orchestra Grand Rapids Symphony Adult Chorus.

The SHU Community Theatre presents a month of film programming in January. Films run at SHU Community Theatre, 1420 Post Road, Fairfield.

This show was a tribute to a great author, poet, playwright, T. Rozewicz, who used to live in our town. He was born 100 years ago, died in 2014 in Wroclaw and left a large amount of work. With this show we ended the celebration of a year contributed to him. It was a cherry on the pie.

The characters of Brian and Roger were birthed by me and Harry Peacock on a TV set back in 2014. Hanging around between takes, we started to improvise and pretend to be these two divorced middle-aged men, trying really hard to see the positive side of their situation.
