dick clark productions and NBC announced today that record-breaking singer, songwriter, mother and muse Mariah Carey will receive the coveted ICON Award at the "2019 Billboard Music Awards." The true definition of an icon, Carey has been smashing records since she debuted on the music scene in 1990 with her self-titled album. Over the next three decades she continued to rule the charts, creating anthems, and snapshots of pop culture history along the way. Carey will take the stage during the three-hour telecast, to accept the ICON Award and perform a show stopping medley of her greatest hits. The "2019 Billboard Music Awards," with returning host Kelly Clarkson, will broadcast from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Wednesday, May 1 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on NBC and will feature this year's hottest musical acts, unexpected collaborations and buzzworthy moments.

The Factory Theater is proud to announce its 27th anniversary season of world premieres at its Rogers Park home. The 2019 - 2020 Season includes Scott OKen's Oh Sh#t! It's Haunted!, September 27 - November 9; Mike Beyer and Kirk Pynchon's Last Night in Karaoke Town, February 14 - March 28, 2020 and Angelina Martinez's The HOA, June 12 - July 25, 2020. The Factory Theater, celebrating five years on Howard Street in Rogers Park, continues the tradition it established at Season One: producing original, impactful, timely work that is important to the company, its ensemble and Chicago. On Wednesday, April 3rd Secretary Hillary Clinton attended the evening performance of The Cher Show. Lin-Manuel Miranda attended the show the following evening on Thursday, April 4th. Both went backstage after the show to meet the cast including stars Stephanie J. Block, Teal Wicks, Micaela Diamond and Jarrod Spector.

Hartford Stage announced today the cast and creative team for the world premiere musical The Flamingo Kid, helmed by Artistic Director Darko Tresnjak. The musical, which closes the 2018-19 season, boasts an impressive cast of Broadway and regional theatre talent. Performances for The Flamingo Kid begin on Thursday, May 9, and run through Sunday, June 9.

The San Francisco-based Kronos Quartet/Kronos Performing Arts Association(KPAA) is pleased to present Kronos Festival 2019, Kronos' fifth annual, three-day music festival, at SFJAZZ Center on May 30-June 1. Kronos Festival 2019 will highlight the voices of singers, storytellers, and activists over three evening concerts, a Saturday morning family concert and Kronos Labs, free public events that are new this year.
