This spring and summer artists at Joe's Pub a?" a program and venue of The Public Theater a?" will shine a light on the breath of Latinx art. This group of artists explore music styles with roots in Mexico, Chile, Cuba, the afrolatino traditions of the Caribbean, and more. American roots artist The Reverend Shawn Amos has shared a new video for his track 'Stranger Than Today.' The video is currently streaming via American Songwriter who writes, 'After making the move from Los Angeles to Texas, Amos found himself with an abundance of freedom that he had not felt before as an artist. This new free-spirited way of life created a desire to explore his past while still pursuing his future.' Amos will release his new album Blue Sky on April 17th.

Urban Stages Theater is presenting the first public reading of LEAVE THE CANNOLI, the latest play by Gary Apple as part of their 'New Year, New Plays' series, LEAVE THE CANNOLI is a comedy set in the world of The Godfather and tells the unknown story of how the horse head ends up in the movie producer's bed. Though everyone knows that iconic scene, the film never explains how the horse head actually got there. Playwright Apple, known for his twisted tales, decided to speculate on how it might have happened.

Deau Eyes, aka Richmond, VA-based singer/songwriter Ali Thibodeau, has signed with Egghunt Records for her forthcoming debut LP, Let It Leave. Due out May 8, Let It Leave was co-produced by longtime friends Jacob Blizard and Collin Pastore, whose creative efforts show up on records by Lucy Dacus and illuminati hotties, among others. The 9-song set is full of bravado: hard-won, contagious confidence radiating from Thibodeau.

After an acclaimed premiere in Chicago, Dutch Kills Theater (In Quietness, The Sister, The Providence of Neighboring Bodies) will present the New York Premiere of 2018 Weissberger Award for Playwrighting nominee THE ANTELOPE PARTY by Eric John Meyer. It is directed by 2017 Lucille Lortel Award winner Jess Chayes (HOME/SICK, Half Moon Bay) with dramaturgy by Sarah Lunnie (What the Constitution Means to Me, Grand Horizons, Hillary and Clinton, A Doll's House Part 2). The Eli and Edythe Broad Stage in Santa Monica is proud to present the Southern California Premiere of HOME, created by Geoff Sobelle. The show is a house party where the whole audience is invited. HOME will have six performances from March 4 through March 8, 2020 (press opening is March 5). Theatre for a New Audience (TFANA; Jeffrey Horowitz, Founding Artistic Director) is presenting William Shakespeare's Timon of Athens, a co-production with Shakespeare Theatre Company in association with the Royal Shakespeare Company. Director Simon Godwin (Measure for Measure) returns to TFANA with a reimagining of his vibrant staging of Timon of Athens, which premiered at the Royal Shakespeare Company in 2018 - the first time the play had been staged with a female lead.

Formed in 2000, The Beautiful Mistake are back after a long hiatus, ready to release brand new music. Houston Grand Opera has announced its 2020a?"21 season, featuring a repertoire of beloved classics, company premieres, and a much-anticipated world premiere. The 66th season opens with audience favorite Carmen. American mezzo-soprano Isabel Leonard makes her HGO and role debut as Carmen in the revival of Rob Ashford's acclaimed 2014 production of Bizet's classic. She is joined by tenor Andrea Caré as Don José, bass-baritone Christian Pursell as Escamillo, and Anita Hartig as Micaela, all making their HGO debuts. The production will be conducted by HGO Principal Guest Conductor Eun Sun Kim.

Arendelle will soon welcome new royalty! BroadwayWorld has just learned that Ciara Renée, McKenzie Kurtz and Ryan McCartan will soon join the cast of Broadway's Frozen as Elsa, Anna, and Hans. All three will play their first performance on February 18. They take over the roles from original company members Caissie Levy and Patti Murin and Joe Carroll.

While circus tricks and random moments now seem to rule the stage, not all 'innovation' has been destructive for men. Where once trying to play it straight was the norm, this generation of performers gives zero f*x for anything other than staying true to their artistry and health.
