Unaccompanied and playing acoustic instead of his usual amplified guitar, Hooker recorded a wonderfully varied set of deep Delta blues, moans, boogies, one field holler, and even a bit of hokum. Due out August 2nd, The Country Blues of John Lee Hooker was cut from the original master tapes by Kevin Gray at Cohearent Audio. Pressed on 180-gram vinyl and housed in a tip-on jacket, these recordings are stripped down so the listener can hear the details and nuances from the original recording.

The incredible Broadway and West End cast has been announced for the electric and provocative Bare: A Pop Opera at The Vaults, 21 June - 4 August.

The Diary of One Who Disappeared marks the Flemish opera company Muziektheater Transparant's return to Leo Jan ek's autobiographical love story in a new production by lauded director Ivo van Hove.

Home Body will release their new album Spiritus on April 26 via via Feeding Tube Records and Peace & Rhythm (pre-order). The official video for the 'DNA, the first single from the forthcoming release premiered at Audiofemme along with an exclusive interview with the band. About the video Audiofemme says, 'Home Body's new music video for 'DNA' explores so-called traditional values and gender bias through the lens of the stereotypical heteronormative relationship. The ArtisTree Music Theatre Festival offers a season of live, professional musical theatre productions that run from August to October each year. Turner Classic Movies (TCM) will pay homage to the glittering world of Hollywood musicals with Mad About Musicals!, a special month of programming celebrating timeless movie musicals such as The Wizard of Oz, Singin' in the Rain and Cabaret. TCM is once again partnering with Ball State University and Canvas to offer a free online multimedia course tied to this programming special about the history of the musical genre and its evolution with cultural and technological shifts. Folks Operetta is proud to announce its 2018 season and a new fundraising campaign, The Korngold Initiative. All of these projects are part of their new Reclaimed Voices Series, which focuses on recovering and reviving the lost music of the Jewish composers of the Second World War. 

Monday, April 9th marked the first edition of the SWAP (Songs With Another Perspective) Cabaret, produced and directed by Alex Beck. Twenty-two artists sang gender-swapped songs from 100 years of the musical theatre cannon.
