The Schenectady Symphony Orchestra (SSO) announced that it has joined Proctors Collaborative, effective Aug. 1, 2022. The SSO will continue to have a separate board of directors and Glen Cortese remains its Artistic Director, but administrative functions will be provided by Proctors Collaborative.

This July, Des Moines Metro Opera (DMMO) will present the Iowa premiere of The Gershwins' Porgy and Bess in honor of international opera star and Iowa native Simon Estes upon the announcement of his operatic farewell.

Opening Friday, July 22, Richard Strauss's comic opera, The Silent Woman (“Die Schweigsame Frau”), receives a rare American presentation at Bard SummerScape. Harold Wilson, “a stentorian bass … with impressive focus, carrying power and quiet charisma” (New York Times), heads a strong cast in a new production by Christian Räth, whose SummerScape staging of Das Wunder der Heliane prompted Musical America to declare: “Opera productions don't get much better than this.”

Performances by a cast of over 120 artists will be an incredible finale to the remarkable 50th anniversary season of the Nevada Ballet Theatre. With the Las Vegas Philharmonic and the Las Vegas Master Singers, Carmina Burana will be performed at The Smith Center For The Performing Arts May 20-22.

Yale Repertory Theatre will conclude its 2022 season with Between Two Knees. The play, written by the intertribal sketch comedy troupe The 1491s and directed by Eric Ting, is presented with Oregon Shakespeare Festival. Between Two Knees will be performed May 12–June 4 at Yale Repertory Theatre (1120 Chapel Street).

On Friday, June 3, 2022, violinist Itamar Zorman will release a new album Violin Odyssey on First Hand Records. Born out of Zorman's 2020 live-streamed video series Hidden Gems, the album is a virtual voyage around the world that yielded the discovery of many lesser known and rarely played works for violin.

This album includes world premiere recordings of 13 works by 20th-century composer William Grant Still and features solo violinist Zina Schiff with maestro Avlana Eisenberg leading the orchestra.
