Goodspeed Musicals is thrilled to announce three enticing productions planned for Chester, Conn. in 2018. First will be the inspiring You Are Here by Drama Desk Award nominees Bartram and Hill. This soaring musical will run May 18 - June 10. Next up will be a new musical adaptation of the enduring love story Cyrano. This exciting new take on the classic will be adapted by Erica Schmidt in collaboration with the indie band The National. Cyrano will run August 3 - September 2. Finally, A Connecticut Christmas Carol, a musical adaptation of the Dickens holiday classic spiced with the flavor of the Nutmeg State, returns to The Terris Theatre November 30 - December 30, 2018. The 16th annual Welsh Musical Theatre Young Singer Of The Year competition kicked off on Saturday February 17 with the preliminary round held at Gowerton School. Thirty highly talented vocalists aged between 16 and 28 performed a programme of songs to adjudicators Vivien Care, Clare Hammacott and Michael Morwood and an audience of musical theatre fans. Song choices were an eclectic mix of musical theatre fare, ranging from Pasek and Paul's 'Never Enough' (The Greatest Showman) and Sarah Bareilles' 'She Used To Be Mine' (Waitress) to Rodgers and Hammerstein's 'Younger Than Springtime' (South Pacific) and Frank Loesser's 'Sit Down, You're Rocking The Boat' (Guys And Dolls) and much in between. Alec Baldwin and Kelli O'Hara Star in LOVE LETTERS at Westport Country Playhouse's Spring Gala

Alec Baldwin and Kelli O'Hara will star in Westport Country Playhouse's Spring Gala performance of A. R. Gurney's play, 'Love Letters,' on Thursday, April 12, at 7 p.m. The one-night-only, $250 per ticket fundraising event will honor the memory of playwright A. R. 'Pete' Gurney, who was a consistent contributor to the Playhouse stage, with 21 works produced there from 1980 through 2016. Gurney died last June at age 86. (more...)

Harry Connick Jr. to Star in the World Premiere of THE STING in Pre-Broadway Engagement at Paper Mill Playhouse

Paper Mill Playhouse (Mark S. Hoebee-Producing Artistic Director, Todd Schmidt-Managing Director), recipient of the 2016 Regional Theatre Tony Award, has announced today Harry Connick, Jr. will star as Henry Gondorff in the world-premiere production of The Sting.  The musical is based on the 1973 film, and will have its world premiere at Paper Mill Playhouse for a limited run from March 29 through April 29, 2018, with book by Bob Martin, music and lyrics by Mark Hollmann &Greg Kotis with Harry Connick, Jr.  In addition, the score will contain music by Scott Joplin including 'The Entertainer.' Jack promises a show reflecting his long and illustrious career. Jack Jones was born in Hollywood on the night his singer/movie star father, Allan Jones, recorded his hit 'Donkey Serenade." He would make his famous parents (his mother was the elegant actress Irene Hervey) proud for the diversity and breadth of his talent. Jack attended University High School in West Los Angeles, studying drama and singing with private teachers. A young athlete, he gave up track and football to devote himself to the arts. (more...)
