Berkeley Repertory Theatre’s Artistic Director Johanna Pfaelzer and Director of the Ground Floor Madeleine Oldham announced the Residency Lab participants and the return to full capacity of the Residency Lab portion of The Ground Floor: Berkeley Rep’s Center for the Creation and Development of New Work.

Studio Tenn – the Franklin-based professional theater company – launches its 2022-23 season in collaboration with Tennessee Performing Arts Center for a concert staging of Elton John and Tim Rice’s Aida, playing for just two nights at TPAC’s James K. Polk Theatre September 30 and October 1. Under the direction of Studio Tenn artistic director Patrick Cassidy (who shares duties with co-director and choreographer Gerry McIntyre), Aida features a starry cast of actors with Broadway pedigrees (Jackie Burns and Rex Smith), along with some of Music City’s most beloved stage veterans (Bakari Jamal King and Mark Cabus) and featuring the stunning triumph of a young woman who audiences have watched grow up on Nashville stages (Maya Riley) in the title role.

TimeLine Theatre Company’s 2022-23 season will continue this fall with the landmark classic Trouble in Mind by Alice Childress, directed by TimeLine Company Member Ron OJ Parson, running November 2 – December 18, 2022.

FRIGID New York will present the 11th Annual Gotham Storytelling Festival, featuring some of the most cutting-edge storytellers in New York City, November 2-6 at The Kraine Theater (85 East 4th Street between 2nd Avenue and Bowery). Eric Firestone Gallery ushers in its fall season with its first solo show of works by postwar abstract painter Nina Yankowitz, whom the gallery now represents. Opening Friday, September 9 at 40 Great Jones Street, Can Women Have One Man Shows? comprises Yankowitz's Draped Paintings and Pleated Paintings series, bodies of work spanning the 1960s and 70s in which the artist created unstretched canvases hanging in loose folds, eschewing the conventional use of rigid frames and stretcher bars.
