New original special House of Horrors: The Friends Speak explores the Turpin family nightmare in which 13 children were abused by their parents for decades.

Helen Forrester, the author who spawned a genre of gritty, working-class memoir with her book, Twopence To Cross The Mersey, is to be honoured with a blue plaque as part of her 100th birthday celebrations. The unveiling will take place on Friday 21st February at her childhood home in Hoylake on the Wirral Peninsula.

Luther Burbank Center for the Arts (LBC) announced today that it has added three shows to its 2020 lineup-Grammy Award-winning music group Jesse & Joy Live on Thursday, June 25, the return of The Australian Pink Floyd Show on Tuesday, August 18, and legendary comedian and actor John Cleese on Friday, November 6. After 40 years of leadership, Jatinder Verma is stepping down as artistic director of Tara Arts in January. After its conception in 1977, he's turned his company from a community project to a prominent presence on the British theatre scene. In recent years, Tara Arts has also become the first (and so far only) BAME-led company with their own theatre building. We had the pleasure to have a chat with Verma, who summed up his groundbreaking journey and took a look at the state of the industry.

British indie-rock outfit Beat Hotel has announced that they will be releasing their new eponymous mini-album via Occulation Recordings in the new year. Ahead of that, they are previewing their first single 'Feel It', an upbeat and notably positive song and their first composition in a long time. This is the first taste of the new 6-track offering. Both the single and album will be offered for download, but the full album is also being pressed on 12” vinyl.

She did it twice in her last outing, SHUFFLE ALONG, OR, THE MAKING OF THE MUSICAL SENSATION OF 1921 AND ALL THAT FOLLOWED, playing both the exuberant Gertrude Saunders, whose cutesy singing would be appropriated by the white mainstream as the model for the iconic Betty Boop, and Florence Mills, one of the great singing artists of the early 20th Century.

Lutken, Guthrie's legacy is given an immediacy and excitement that brings an audience into the heyday of protest music that grew out of what Ken Burns described as 'hillbilly music' in his recent documentary on the country genre.

The International Culinary Center (ICC) is honored to announce the return of Korean Temple Food Guru and Cookbook Author, Wookwan, following her first successful cooking class in 2018 at the New York City culinary school. Wookwan will travel from Korea to introduce the techniques of temple cuisine to a global audience of ICC's current Professional Culinary and Pastry Arts students, bringing with her the first-of-its kind English-language cookbook on temple food, Wookwan's Korean Temple Food: The Road to the Taste of Enlightenment.
