White Horse Theater to Present Immersive Tennessee Williams Play at the Players Club

In February, the White Horse Theater Company, which has produced several rarely seen Williams plays such as A Perfect Analysis Given by a Parrot, In the Bar of a Tokyo Hotel and I Can't Imagine Tomorrow, will present a unique & immersive production of the Tennessee Williams dark comedy A Cavalier for Milady at the historic Players Club at Gramercy Park (16 Gramercy Park South) with performances on February 7 at 8pm, February 8 at 8pm and February 9 at 7pm and 9:30pm. The 2/7 show will be followed by a WHTC 15th Anniversary Celebration with a live jazz performance and the 2/8 show will be followed by a moderated talk-back with renowned Tennessee Williams scholar Dr. Annette J. Philly POPS Pays Tribute To Leonard Bernstein

The Philly POPS will join in a city-and-nationwide tribute to composer and conductor Leonard Bernstein to mark 100 years after his birth. Lenny's Revolution runs February 2-4, 2018 at the Kimmel Center. Bernstein, who studied at Philadelphia's Curtis Institute of Music, revolutionized music forever by blurring the lines between classical and popular, most famously with his iconic hits West Side Story, Candide, and On the Town. Works & Process, the performing arts series at the Guggenheim, presents an encore of choreographer Jodi Melnick's sold-out 2016 commission, NEW BODIES. This Works & Process commissioned work weaves together dance, spoken text, and moderated discussion with live music, featuring New York City Ballet dancers Jared Angle, Sara Mearns, and Taylor Stanley in a role originated by Gretchen Smith, with harpsichord by composer Gy rgy Ligeti, violin by composer Heinrich Biber, and commissioned music by Robert Boston.Also, Melnick, who enjoyed a performance career with Twyla Tharp (among many others), will perform One of Sixty-Five Thousand Gestures, a solo work created in collaboration with the late Trisha Brown. Tucson Desert Song Festival Celebrates Bernstein At 100

The Tucson Desert Song Festival's (TDSF) sixth season opens tomorrow (Jan. 16) and will run through February, 4th. The festival will celebrate the life and music of Leonard Bernstein, the iconic conductor, composer, pianist and educator Over the coming weeks TDSF, in partnership with Tucson's leading arts organizations, will present events honoring Bernstein at 100. The festival will provide a rich and unusual context in which to experience Bernstein's work. Highlights include a fully-staged production of Bernstein's comic operetta Candide (in partnership with Arizona Opera); Trouble in Tahiti (in partnership with the Tucson Symphony Orchestra) featuring mezzo-soprano Sasha Cooke and bass-baritone Kelly Markgraf; Mass, in a chamber version (in partnership with True Concord Voices & Orchestra) featuring Jubilant Sykes; the Kaddish symphony, narrated by Jamie Bernstein, and an evening with Broadway star Chita Rivera. The award, honoring the best performance in a professional production of a classic play (one written prior to 1920) in the New York metropolitan area, will be presented at Actors' Equity Association's Eastern Regional Membership Meeting at 2 pm on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at the Equity offices, 165 West 46th Street in New York.
