Shea's Performing Arts Center announced the M&T Bank 2020 a?" 21 Broadway Series and a Special Engagement before an audience of season subscribers and local theatre enthusiasts. Shea's Performing Arts Center President Michael G. Murphy and Broadway Partner-Producer Albert Nocciolino revealed the upcoming season which will launch two national tours and welcome an array of adored Broadway productions to the Shea's Buffalo Theatre.

On Friday, elusive New York City jazz group Onyx Collective returns with the release of their new single. 'My Funny Valentine' features Nick Hakim and is a reimagining of the song originally written for Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart's 1937 musical Babes in Arms. On Onyx Collective's stripped-down rendition of the song, out via TMWRK Records, Nick Hakim delivers a delicate vocal performance over a haunting and at times tense piano riff. With the release Onyx Collective becomes one of the many significant artists to cover the song, including Hal McIntyre and Ruth Gaylor, Chet Baker, Frank Sinatra, Lee Wiley, Ella Fitzgerald, Miles Davis, The Supremes, Jerry Garcia and Merl Saunders, Chris Botti and Sting, and Chaka Khan.

Performing Arts Fort Worth has announced its 2020-2021 Broadway at the Bass Season at Bass Performance Hall! BROADWAY IN HOLLYWOOD (Nederlander Organization) has announced the Spectacular Spectacular 2020-21 Season, consisting of seven Broadway national tour productions which will play both the Dolby Theatre and Pantages Theatre in Hollywood. This season marks the second such season that Los Angeles theater audiences will have regular access to blockbuster national touring productions at both iconic theatres on Hollywood Boulevard.

In 1943, a brand new musical from new composing team Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein astounded the world and changed Broadway forever. In 2019, the very same show returned over seven decades later with an equally astounding effect.

Festival Players celebrate their 17th year of outstanding theatre over the Christmas season with Rodger & Hammerstein's OKLAHOMA!, December 13 - 30.

'Oklahoma! Is and will always be my first love,' explained Brynna Horswell, who portrays Laurey in Charleston Light Opera Guild's (CLOG) upcoming production of the Rodgers and Hammerstein classic. 'It was the first musical I remember being exposed to as a very little girl. I grew up singing and dancing to those songs and dreamed that one day I'd be Shirley Jones with my own Gordon MacRae.'

On May 4, 1970, over a period of 13-seconds, nearly 70 shots were fired upon Kent State University unarmed students by the Ohio State National Guard. The students, and their supporters, were protesting against the bombing of Cambodia by the United States, part of the ill-conceived Vietnam incursion. Forever after, to be known as 'The Kent State Massacre,' the attack killed four and wounded nine others.

Broadway's original lovebirds, Curly and Laurey, are portrayed for a whole new generation in the Tony-winning revival of Oklahoma!, currently running on Broadway at the Circle in the Square Theatre. And this productions is not your grandparents' Oklahoma! Or is it?

This Skylight production is certainly more stripped down, relying on simple orchestrations, bare-bones sets, and a small ensemble to achieve something great. A production like this allows the strongest bit of 'Oklahoma!' -- the music -- to shine.

The groundbreaking, history-making Broadway revival of Rodgers & Hammerstein's Oklahoma! is celebrating the #2 position on the official Billboard Cast Album chart in its debut week, following Hamilton (#1) and beating out Dear Evan Hansen (#3) and Wicked (#4).

Skylight Music Theatre announced the cast and creative team for Oklahoma! running September 27 through October 13, 2019 in Skylight's beautiful Cabot Theatre at the Broadway Theatre Center, 158 N. Broadway, in Milwaukee's Historic Third Ward.

This season on Broadway, everything has definitely been going Eva Price's way.

ACQUANETTA, which just opened at Bard's SummerScape, was the piece that opened 2018's edition of PROTOTYPE festival in New York. Musically and dramatically, written by Michael Gordon, composer (of 'Bang on a Can' fame), Deborah Artman, librettist (ditto), the piece is very much in a class of its own.

Despite being located a few short miles from Highland Farm where Oscar Hammerstein wrote Oklahoma!, Town & Country Players has never before staged a full production of this classic. Oklahoma! was the first collaboration between Rodgers (music) and Hammerstein (book and lyrics) and the cast and creative team are more than a little excited to present the show in the Barn Theater. Director Jon Knapp considers Oklahoma! one of his favorite shows (if not his favorite) show. He confessed that inscribed in his wedding band are the words 'Let people say we're in love,' so clearly the show holds a special place in his heart. And while he has been in Oklahoma! many times, he is thrilled to be 'taking the reins' as the director this time. Knapp explained that while not doing a completely reimagined version as is being done in New York City right now, the T&C version does focus on the drama and in particular the love triangle between Laurey, Curly and Jud with Jud being a bit more prominent as Jud is portrayed as a 'viable' option to Curly.

The cast recording for this revival of Oklahoma is unusual, unexpected, and, occasionally, shocking, giving modern audiences an analogue for how the original shocked audiences in 1943.
