Well, dang it! They got me! They made me cry. I really thought I was going to make it through Actors Theatre of Little Rock’s COME FROM AWAY with my composure intact. I knew the emotional punches that were coming, and I was doing pretty well—right up until Dariane LyJoi Mull’s Hannah called Kelley Ponder’s Beulah. That’s when my eyes filled with tears, and ATLR officially got me.

I get asked a lot about what is my favorite show that I don't mind repeating, and quite often I don't have a real answer. Well, this time I do. COME FROM AWAY has moved into my number one position of shows to see over and over, and this is partly due to the Broadway-worthy performance at Wildwood Park for the Arts in Little Rock, which is running through Sunday, September 20.

Come From Away is the true story of the 38 planes and their passengers that were forced to land in Gander, Newfoundland the morning of September 11, 2001. The United States closed the airspace for the first time in history and all planes coming from Europe were forced to land in Gander, a town of about 9,000.

ZACH Theatre’s Come From Away is a joyous, almost flawless production powered by a superb ensemble, clever staging, and infectious music. This true story of strangers helping strangers finds humor and hope in tragedy and leaves you with a warm reminder of what people can be.

It's the end of an era on Broadway. As BroadwayWorld reported last month, the curtain has officially come down on Boneau/Bryan-Brown, the iconic Broadway press office founded by ATPAM-members Chris Boneau and Adrian Bryan-Brown, after more than three decades representing theatre on Broadway, Off-Broadway and around the world.

The conversation about artificial intelligence in Hollywood tends to focus on what might happen. The data from a new global competition shows what is already happening, and it looks nothing like the boardroom debates.

I have had a couple of run-ins. I've been married three times. I have three kids that I know of. I was doing things and I never thought I would be a Tupperware lady. I was doing things that normally weren't panning out from where I was from. My mama said, “I'm not pretty enough to work at this strip club!”

The title role in Shakespeare’s enduring tragedy Hamlet is on the bucket list for many actors wishing to challenge their range of emotions while offering their own interpretation of the iconic role. And in his new solo play, Hamlet (Solus), creator and performer David Melville (pictured), co-founder of Independent Shakespeare Co., plays all the roles while intertwining the text with original songs. I decided to speak with David about his interpretation of the role he has played many times, including why he decided to stress the grief in the story as well as making (the skull of) Yorick an important character, and how the production evolved.

In just a few weeks, the breathtaking stage production of LIFE OF PI will sail into Proctors in Schenectady! Based on Yann Martel’s 2001 best-selling novel, which captivated readers and later became an Oscar-winning film in 2012, the story made waves once again with its 2019 stage debut in the UK before dazzling Broadway audiences in 2023. Now, it’s hitting the road with its first U.S. National Tour, and I had the pleasure of speaking with Taha Mandviwala, who brings the iconic role of Pi Patel to life. Taha isn’t just a phenomenal actor; he’s also an athlete, wellness coach, and self-proclaimed D&D enthusiast. With his infectious energy and thoughtful insights, our conversation was as inspiring as the story he helps tell on stage!
