In celebration of President Jimmy Carter's 95th birthday (October 1, 1924), Charlotte's Off Broadway (Producer, Anne Lambert) today announced the cast and creative team for the Off-Broadway premiere of CONFIDENCE (and The Speech), a new play, written by Susan Lambert Hatem and directed by Hannah Ryan (Hamilton, An American in Paris) for a limited engagement at Theatre Row (410 West 42nd Street a?' between 9th & 10th Avenues).

The Joyce Theater Foundation presents the New York premiere of THE DAY, the highly-collaborative new evening-length work from Maya Beiser, Lucinda Childs, David Lang, and Wendy Whelan, from October 22-27 at The Joyce Theater.

AMC Networks has viewers covered this holiday season as the second annual “Best Christmas Ever,” returns with its largest slate of holiday programming to-date featuring over 60 films and specials airing all day, every day, and this year, expands to all five of AMC Networks. Beginning Monday, November 25 through Christmas Day, the monthlong programming event will offer up more than 700 hours of holiday-themed movies, specials and family favorite films. AMC Networks will be the exclusive home to many holiday favorites including Elf, The Polar Express, National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, Miracle on 34th Street ('94), Four Christmases, Fred Claus and Rankin-Bass Christmas classics including The Year Without a Santa Claus, 'Twas the Night Before Christmas, Jack Frost, and Rudolph's Shiny New Year, among many others. This year's newly expanded Best Christmas Ever holiday event will feature a schedule takeover on AMC, and daily marathons across the other AMC Networks including BBC America, IFC, Sundance TV and WEtv. The majority of movies and specials will also be available on-demand on AMC.com and the AMC app.

The renaming of the theatre was dedicated to Stephen Sondheim, the greatest and best known artist in American musical theatre on his 80th birthday. 

I was invited to attend Orpheus Musical Theatre's opening night performance of Falsettos at the Gladstone Theatre. Falsettos was originally performed on Broadway in 1992, where it was nominated for seven Tony Awards and won two. It was then revived to high acclaim in 2016, where it was nominated for five Tonys, including Best Revival of a Musical. The story is set in 1979, at a time when a family unit was deemed to consist of a man, a woman and one or more children. A wife was expected to keep the house clean, prepare meals and offer up sex whenever her husband wanted it. Anything outside of this traditional family unit would have been considered abnormal.

The 19th annual installment of the Coney Island Film Festival (named one of the '25 Coolest Film Festivals' by MovieMaker Magazine) hits the shores of Coney Island from Friday, September 13th through Sunday, September 15th. This year's festival features 106 films from around the world; a stunning array of independent filmmaking, as diverse as the neighborhood it represents. Subjects range from the profound to the profane, showcasing the independent spirit and irreverent nature of the one and only Coney Island.

Totem Pole Playhouse, America's summer theatre, located in Caledonia State Park between Gettysburg and Chambersburg, PA has announced the final production in the Playhouse's new summer subscription series, Wrong Turn at Lungfish by legendary writer/director, Garry Marshall and acclaimed screenwriter, Lowell Ganz.

The Broadway at Birdland concert series presented singer/pianist Steve Ross in “Songs I Love” last night. Steve looked back at his long career and revisited songs from his first recording (1979) and his more recent efforts celebrating Alan Jay Lerner, Noel Coward and Stephen Sondheim. KT Sullivan who is currently appearing with Steve at the Irish Repertory Theatre in LOVE, NOEL: The Songs and Letters of Noel Coward (written and devised by Barry Day) joined Steve for a few songs.

Cabaret's Mr. Show Business shares his most personal night of theater to date with his new one-man show An Evening With Richard Skipper: From Conway to Broadway, sending a grateful audience home happy.

On his first new album in seven years, GRAMMY Award-winning conguero Poncho Sanchez celebrates the life and music of the iconic saxophonist John Coltrane. Due out September 20, 2019 via Concord Picante, Trane's Delight is a love letter from one musical pioneer to another, as the Latin Jazz legend pays homage to one of his earliest and most indelible influences. The joyous album arrives just in time for the late tenor titan's 93rd birthday on September 23.

Earthquakes, sharks, and floating casinos, oh my! The Royal Players are proud to present Disaster! The Musical, Directed by Justin A. Pike and Music Direction by Christian Waldron, running August 15th-17th, 22nd-24th at 7:00 and August 18th and 25th at 2:00. Disaster! The Musical is written by Seth Rudetsky and Jack Plotnick, from a concept created by Seth Rudetsky and Drew Geraci, with additional material by Drew Geraci.

BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! Festival, now in its 41st season, presents Compagnie Herve KOUBI's astonishingly kinetic evening-length signature work, What the Day Owes to the Night, Saturday, July 27. The event, which takes place at the Prospect Park Bandshell (9thSt. & Prospect Park West) is free to the public (with a suggested $5 contribution at the gate) and begins at 8:00pm (with gates opening at 7:00pm). 

Jacob's Pillow presents the highly-anticipated world premiere of THE DAY, featuring world renowned cellist Maya Beiser and legendary dancer Wendy Whelan with choreography by the groundbreaking postmodern dance artist Lucinda Childs and music by Pulitzer Prize-winning David Lang in the Doris Duke Theatre, July 31-Aug 4. Co-commissioned by Jacob's Pillow, the multidisciplinary work explores memory, life's journey, resilience, and survival of the soul through the shared language of music and dance.
